Bought a tent, what do we need now?

I have finaly worn dh down and we bought a tent this weekend! It is a colarado 8, anyone used one, and are the ok?? (insert worried looking face!)

Now that we have the tent, what would you camping experts recoment for a reasonably comfortable stay. Kids are 5 and 7, dh and I too old to admit . Like a bit of luxury, so not into rubbing two boy scout together to light the fire.

Your help greatfully received!

'nesh' is weak, feeble ... particularly with regard to feeling the cold/wind/wet etc. That's what I think anyway!

Love your cow story.

We're only fair-weather, short stays, no real cooking campers. Oh and there have to be decent bathrooms nearby too. I used to do 'proper' camping with the scouts, but it doesn't appeal now.

Oh I do cold and wet - sometimes holiday in Wales ffs! But I do like a nice warm bed at the end of the night.

Dh and I camped once in Spain. We woke up and it was raining, he refused to get out of the tent until is stopped which was a long long time....

CountessDracula · 10/08/2004 15:44

LOL re vampirish snack. I could murder a cow's head....

Fio2 · 10/08/2004 15:44

LOL at nesh, the 'sotherners' here dont know what a cob is!

Fio2 · 10/08/2004 15:45

CD to do camping you have to get extremely pissed so you dont realise how dirty and cold you are

CountessDracula · 10/08/2004 15:45

Isn't it a big loaf of bread with a little one on the top all joined together?

Or some kind of pier

CountessDracula · 10/08/2004 15:46

Fio for all you know I am terrible prude and not dirty at all....

Fio2 · 10/08/2004 15:48

LOL and a cob is a cob! a roll apparently but you know that being half-north

Fio2 · 10/08/2004 15:48

my husband loves camping but wants to sell our tourer and get a tent?! someone talk sense to him please

CountessDracula · 10/08/2004 15:50

I am not half north, just only half southern

Work that one out after your bottle of wine What is a tourer

God there is so much I don't know

JanH · 10/08/2004 15:51

Fio2 · 10/08/2004 15:51

Fio2 · 10/08/2004 15:51

a tourer is a caravan, oh come on cd you know i'm half gypo half irish

JanH · 10/08/2004 15:51

Should add that nobody was in it at the time, it was draped over a wall to air.

Fio2 · 10/08/2004 15:52

what of my caravan? what were you doing in it janh?

CountessDracula · 10/08/2004 15:53

oh god poor you. Didn't think tents would taste nice

Fio call a spade a spade girl! Tourer indeed! Is that a northernism?

KS once suggested that I go to northern school, she may be right.

Blu · 10/08/2004 15:54

I told DP we needed to buy a little stove, and he asked why. I said to make our coffee in the morning, and he said 'but won't we just go to the cafe for a cappucino'.
Do you think I should warn him before we set off?

Blu · 10/08/2004 15:55

He's just SO southern.

Fio2 · 10/08/2004 15:55

LOL Blu

JanH · 10/08/2004 15:55

A tourer is a caravan that moves, CD! (Not very fast as a rule it has to be said but faster than a static )

JanH · 10/08/2004 15:56

Blu, I am so looking forward to the debriefing. You will write down all his innocent remarks for us, won't you?

Fio2 · 10/08/2004 15:56

hahahaha it is very slow up those dynnys mawdy in wales, or however it is spelt

Fio2 · 10/08/2004 15:57

Blu is he really that innocent?

JanH · 10/08/2004 15:57

And a cob can also be a paddy - well it is round here. Similarly, round here crammed means pissed off. I think they make them up to make southerners feel southerner.

CountessDracula · 10/08/2004 15:58

surely all caravans move? Otherwise they would be houses or sheds. I mean what is the point of a caravan that doesn't move ffs

You lot are winding me up now aren't you?
