Can I borrow your tent?!

I didn't want to hijack anyone else's thread, although I've been following several tent threads recently. I'm going on a big camping holiday in August (10 - 20) and I am looking for a tent, pref one with separate 'bedrooms' for me and three small children. I've seen plenty of gorgeous ones to buy (Khyam Ontario, for example, or the Lichfield Arapaho) but I only need it for the one trip and can't find anywhere to hire one, and I can't really afford to fork out for a brand new one.

So, I'm wondering whether anyone on MN has a tent that I could borrow? I'm in West Sussex, and the camping holiday is in Norfolk. Obviously I'd pay you, and if there were any damage I'd make sure I was insured to replace the tent, and I'd collect and return it. I'd be so grateful if anyone could help!

Even if you hired one, it probably would be cheaper to buy one from ARGOS they come really reasonable say £50 say that it depends if you want home from home or tent (if you see what I mean) never know someone that lives close by would lend you one free! good luck and enjoy camping, its brilliant!

Sorry satine, if we werem't away I'd have talked to DH, but we're off for part of that week (shame too as we have the Ontario- WITH carpet LOL)

I will ahve a look at ebay see if there's anything really cheap for you (we bought our first from Argos, sold that the next year for 90% oft eh cost, traded up, sold that this year for 50% of teh cost of a new one- will probably do that again next year for thecotton version of the Ontario)

PeachyChocolateEClair · 15/04/2007 14:19

this would be fine as a starter model

Although tents are now selling at top whack (though frankly that price is low, well art the time of posting). If you could wait until July you'd find that the onslaught will be over, and quite a few people will ahve decided they hate camping / dh / the British Summer lol and put their up

Thanks so much, Peachy. I've been keeping an eagle eye on eBay but the decent looking ones tend to go for quite good prices, and I end up being a bit suspicious of the cheap ones!
But that's a very good point about waiting. Now must be the busiest time of the year for tent sellers!

Do you like your Ontario? It does look like a great tent.

we've got one you can borrow, try it then buy it from us if you like! It is an older version of this snag is we're in N East...

PeachyChocolateEClair · 15/04/2007 19:35

Haven't used it yet, will this weekend I hope as a trial. Looks excellent and we've been in it though, the plan is to flog after a year and then purchase the polycotton one as we would like one and we would get the use of it.

Aztec tents like the one linked to are fabulous, actually.

Dh says though any time we're not away!

Dingdong, that tent looks absolutely wonderful, and just what I'm after. Just how to get it! I will ask around and see if I know anyone who might be going up to the NE later in the summer. But thanks so much, it's really kind of you to offer, and even if we didn't buy it, I could hang a 'for sale' sign on the tent during the camping trip (there will be loads of people there)!
