what food to eat camping

can i ask what food you all eat when camping, the last couple of trips have been pub meals out or fry up at the tent and we want a few cheaper weekends this year
so any suggestions on easy meals to cook when camping would be great
thanx all

We always take something with us for the 1st night, usually pasta sauce, as we know we can't be bothered cooking!

Couscous is great in the summer - can add cooked meat, cheese, raw veg, etc

Pasta - add feta in oil and chopped tomatoes for instant yummy sauce!

Will think a bit more and get back!

bbq! we bought a few disposable bbq's and did sausages and burgers in rolls with some salad. Was lovely!

packet noodles with stuff thrown in (onions, ham, peppers, sweetcorn etc

have been known to bake trout wrapped in foil on babrie...

veg chilli and rice
local chip shop

Indian takeaway

Corned beef hash

Spaghetti carbonara

Paella
Whatever the local deli or fishmongers has that day, fresh, grilled with salad
Pitta breads (toasted on griddle) with griled chicken / salad / tomatoes
prawn skewers with lemon, griddled potato wedges
pasta is always an easy option too- either just reheat a tub of sauce, or chop some veies, add garlic and olive oil, griddle and stir thorugh

BTW have a gourmet camp cook book called campfire cuisine off amazon, so if theres any aprticular types of food you like...

i did lobby rainy days, pork chops with boiled veg ,curry with rice, sausages and mash, beef cassarole, etc...
we dont eat out, always cook, and its always taste nice when camping...

Just got back from a camping trip - and we ate like kings! 1st day before we left home got some pork chops out of freezer and into a sandwich box in a marinade that I made - olive oil, herbs, garlic, lemon juice. So that I wouldn't need to keep them in the fridge - they were delicious, served them with sautee pots and cabbage - yum yum. 2nd night we had grilled sea bass bought from fishmongers near the beach, sautee pots and ratatouille. Next night spicy chorizo and bean stew (don't need to keep the chorizo in fridge and beans were tinned ones, pinto beans etc) with tinned toms and onions in it - then I think we had a sort of hash on the last night with salad, the hash was bacon, potatoes, onions and then cheese on top and under the grill at the end.
There is no need to eat crap food when camping, but take a good frying pan with you! I always take chilli flakes and garlic with me and back ups like rice and pasta and cous cous.
Having said all this, the car was full of foods in tins, bread, veg etc; but it saved us loads of money, and the only thing we bought while we were there was the fresh fish.

Can I just advise you don't take fish like we did.
Our cool box STUNK and everything else smelt of fish and put us off everything.

We have a webber travel bbq and had :

cheeseburgers
sausages & beans
chicken breasts and salad
chicken kebabs (made with mushrooms, peppers, onion etc)
corn on the cobs with feta cheese salad
jacket potatoes with any filling
