Am I mad to go camping this weekend?

Haven't even checked the weather forecast, but I just want to do something with DS that doesn't cost too much money.

Will it be freezing? Am I completely mad? Would anyone else go camping this time of year?

oh yes, there will be loads of people camping - do you have hot water bottles and fleecy PJ's?

weather forecast looks pretty good, dry but cold - where are you thinking of going?

hercules1 · 03/04/2007 16:36

Mad, mad, mad. THe earliest I will go is next half term.

PeachyClair · 03/04/2007 19:51

Can't be that mad- surprising how many places are booked out for Easter this year . We start this year May Bank Holiday, earlier than ormal it ahs to be said, we're only going down the road to the Forest of Dean though so can come home if needed!

Fleece opyjamas (Mothercare do all in ones in fleece up to 6 I think- excellent for camping), hates, put a blanket on the floor before bedding (again, we use a mothercare fleece blanket- amazing the insulation you get) and you'll be fine.

PeachyClair · 03/04/2007 19:51

not hates

hats

doh

You are off yer rocker!

MintChocChippyMinton · 03/04/2007 20:05

ooh peachyclair we are just back from nodes point after your recommendation - fab fab fab...but we were in a mobile home with central heating. Bit early for camping methinks.

PeachyClair · 03/04/2007 20:10

Is the beach fab or what ? And did you try the restaurant on the beach

Hoping to take Mum and Dad there next year, they dont drive so have never visited IoW (or anywhere much LOL, though they do go abroad).

SO glad you like it- always worried someone will come back and say Oi- that place you recommended

MamaG · 03/04/2007 20:19

pssssssst.......Kbear

MintChocChippyMinton · 03/04/2007 20:57

PC: went rockpooling, bit chilly for sandcastles. Only had coffee at baywatch but the menu did look lovely. Best bit was being able to walk to the beach (although winning a sparky's medal at the kiddies' disco came a close second). We took PIL to IoW last year and they loved it.

PeachyClair · 03/04/2007 21:00

LOL at Spraky- ds1 (Aspergers) was obsessed by him for a time, every time that Akon song came on he thought it was Sparky crying for him (loneleeeeee ahm so loneleeeeee), and would get really upset.

MintChocChippyMinton · 03/04/2007 21:12

Bless We only got to see Naarky - the devilish one with red eyes, very creepy, we all ran home to bed at that point.
Don't normally go in for the entertainment but the DC are old enough to enjoy it, and so, apparently, am I, LOL

PeachyChocolateEClair · 03/04/2007 23:28

Ah, DH does a fab narky impression- and as he only wears black, he had them convinced it was him for ages LOL! A few times Narky appeared when DH was popping to the loo or whatever, it kinda stuck.

We tend to go for one with entertainment on our week long 'big' holiday, and keep to more basic sites the rest of the year for weekends etc- although broadwat house at cheddar (they have caravans too btw) has a sort of toned down entertainment aschedule which is rather nice, and a good friend of Dh from days of yore helps with that which is also nice.

tigi · 05/04/2007 21:50

me, I'm going!!!
In a tent, will be fab, and weather is going to be hot hot hot! (but cold after sun down -
