In France, its tipping down and we had a crap meal last night. Inspiration needed!

Just that, really.

Spent €70 on a decidedly average meal for 4 last night, because essentially DH and I were basically too lazy and disorganised to cook.

It's now tipping down, so I need face this holiday full on before I succumb to the urge to flounce home!

Best meals made from basic ingredients available in your average Carrefour? I don't really eat red meat (particularly not cheval) but will happily cook a one pot day with lentils and meat and just not eat the meat.

We have a cadac and a small gas burner.

I can't even have a coffee because the milk is outside and I don't have a waterproof in the tent Sad and it is really TIPPING down.

Our favorite camping meal as children was chicken in white wine sauce with a tin of carrots and a tin of potatoes.
You can cook a great fry up camping. Mop up the bacon bits after with bread and you've got fried bread.
You can warm up a ready meal like lasagne or potato dauphinois In the cadac.

Thanks guys. We had fish kebabs last night from a great local fishmonger. With a tin of lentils with carrots which were really very lovely.

Got some ratatouille in a jar and cous cous to try out too.

I hate trying to cook whilst camping in France. Get sick of ham and cheese! My saving grace - which will be good for you next year - are spice tailor curry packs from home. Just add chicken, veg and rice. Ive also brought a selection of simply cook recipes. Not much help for this year, apologies!

Our two easy camping meals are pasta with a jar of sauce plus grated cheese/olives, and sausages served with a packet of flavoured rice (eg tomato/Mediterranean veg). Quick and easy, avoiding yet more bread.

CADACs are brilliant, I love mine! I bought the pizza stone and make my own pizzas on it, very easy to do whilst camping!

In France I always pick up some paella and a baguette, fab tea!
