We're off to le paradis in the dordogne in a few weeks - well it's right on the Vezere river to be precise. Can't wait!! Not been to that area before though - will we get eaten alive? Are there mosquitoes?

We've been bitten In the Dordogne and as you're near a river I would definitely expect to be bitten. There's some nasty blighters about called Tiger Mosquitoes which bite during the day and can carry diseases. DEET is the only thing that works for me, but people swear by Avon So Soft.

We have spent a few summers in the Dordogne and only suffered biting insects in 2015 during a very hot spell. I actually ordered Avon skin so soft via Amazon to be delivered to our campsite as had left mine at home. After it arrived I didn't need it any more as the bugs disappeared!

Ok thanks, will check out deet and Avon. The bugs always love me!
