Hello any recommendations for campsites for a family of 4 where we can enjoy the countryside but can easily travel into London for a daytrip or two. Thanks so much!

Have a look at Hertford. It's on Mangrove Rd. Possibly called Balls Park.
Nice rural location but near a lovely market town with plenty of restaurants and pubs. Two train stations into London about 40 minutes each. Though people often drive to Cockfosters tube about 25 minutes. Park at the huge car park there and use the Piccadilly line in and out

There is one in Crystal Palace park - Google it!

Just looked up Hertford. It's not called Balls Park in case you are looking. It's a caravan and camping club site but no static caravans

I was going to say crystal palace too! Mind boggling!

There's one in Debden- not far from the central line and Epping forest.

Here

Lee Valley site at sewardstone is nice, you can get the bus from the site to Walthamstow tube and get around really easily from there.

Crystal Palace is a great site for London visits, and has the lovely and vast Crystal Palace park behind it, but not exactly access to the countryside!

Are there any sites in the lovely countryside around Sevenoaks? The train from Sevenoaks into Charing Cross is very fast.

Or sites in the Chilterns , within reach of Milton Keynes? Or near Woburn etc?

There's a campsite in Crystal Palace...??? What???

Second the one at Lee valley

There is a lovely campsite in Dulwich, too. It is a scout site but they allow non scout bookings when it is not school hols.

However I don't think it is quite as convenient as Crystal Palace for getting public transport into London.

TestTubeTeen · 30/05/2017 22:52

Actually the Dulwich campsite , the South London Scout Centre, is 11 mins walk from a station that is 15 mins from Victoria. It is in woods, quiet, very lovely!
