Hollands Wood Campsite, New Forest

We are looking for a change from our regular New Forest campsite and saw Hollands Wood (near Brockenhurst) last time we were there - has anyone been? What did you think of it? It seems enormous with 600 pitches, but also nice and wood-y...
We've been going to a site at the top of the forest, but fancied being closer to the beach at Milford on Sea this time.

We like it. It was very muddy as had been raining a lot. Try and avoid the pitches by the road as they are noisy but the rest of the site is fine.
Great stream nearby to play in, easy short walk into Btockenhurst too.
Loads of ponies and donkeys on site and they really are scavengers and push into any opening so keep your food well locked up.
Good atmosphere, lots of families and kids all playing together.
We have a campervan and will probably try Roundhills next time in the New Forest, but for families Hollands Wood is great.

Fantastic location. Everyone pitches on the Balmer Lawn side to be away from the road. I spent a week in august some years ago and it really was crossed guy lines everywhere. No marked pitches and people pitching crammed next to others. Unless they now have pitches?

Shower block was clean. Great walks and bike rides from the site. Squirrels getting in the tents and trying to eat food. Ponies ambling about.

Hollands wood is quite shaded, Roundhills is open. Both great showering facilities and fab for kids! Just watch out for horses and cows as they roam freely at Roundhills. Plenary of space at both and you never are on top of your neighbours.

Have you thought of Hurst View on the edge of Lymington? Quiet, road free cycle to Milford and close to a great pub. Never stayed there, live close to it!

Thanks for the info everyone, much appreciated - I think we're going to book Hollands Wood and go and scout out Roundhills (but that one gets booked up very quickly doesn't it?)
