As title says really.
Lakes all around.
Yorkshire around Ingleton, Sedbergh, Malham areas.

We generally like cheap & cheerful, not bothered about showers/hot taps etc. Just a good field with lots around nearby Grin

Lakes, The Old Post Office campsite... Great shallow river for swimming and lively family atmosphere.

Thanks bikerun yeah, was thinking in my head areas near the border of cumbria. I'll do another theead specific for n yorks.
I'm not too keen on the langdale & low wray sites, bit too big/busy/expensive.

Anyone ever stayed at Turner Hall campsite in the Duddon valley?

I have! Stayed at Turner Hall Farm I mean!! A long, long time ago, and without children. Basic, but comfortable, walking distance to pub, beautiful setting.

Great, sounds ideal bike thanks

The NT sites are eyewateringly expensive dress, more than £50 a night for us in high season. We go to them because we take a canoe and book a waterfront pitch.

If I could do the same on a smaller site I would love it.

As it is we tend to go out of season, they are only open at weekends in the winter which suits us.

I saw someone recommending Stonethwaite Farm, Borrowdale, as a small, unfussy site. It does look lovely.

BarchesterFlowers · 16/04/2017 20:06

That does look lovely soul, we have had Kestrel Lodge bookmarked for a while, they were closed from October and we haven't been but we will go for a walk and spend the night there soon.

NannyR · 16/04/2017 20:30

Kestrel lodge looks great barchester, I've bookmarked that for the summer, thanks.

BarchesterFlowers · 16/04/2017 20:58

Yes, I forgot about it Nanny, DH reminded me earlier tonight - he would like to go later this week if we can - we had to cancel our weekend trip as Dd was ill.

We are not very far away really.

It does Dress. I will report back when we go.

DH wants to go for two nights, I only want to go for one, the forecast is down to 1 degree at the weekend and unlike him and DD I am working this week so it will be my whole weekend outside in the cold.

I will be tired and straight back to work. One or none for me this week, I am standing firm Grin. A walk, night in the pub and another walk will do me just fine.
