I am so glamping solo with two 4yo, right?

I'm thinking about taking advantage of the last summer before DTs are at school and take them camping (probs pre pitched bell tent or fetlatherdown farms safari tent style). I'd be on my own as DH has no holiday and someone needs to stay home with crazy 19mo baby (I am NOT taking him, he's a lunatic).

So was planning to do mid week, max 90 mins drive from sw london. We did glamping a few years ago when they were 18mo which was just about okay but only cos the weather was amazing. But they are much older now so I think they'd really get it now.

What do you think? am I mad?

Totally not mad. They'll love it but you may need to go to bed when they do or you may just die of exhaustion.

I went on my own last year twice (admittedly only with one nearly 4yo). It was fab both times.

We stayed at Leeds Castle and at Gooseberry Fields near Ashford and they were both absolutely lovely. Both bearish to London too.

I vote do it.

Port Lympne (also Kent) is fab too. It's sort of shepherd huts but the best bit is you get to go round the zoo before it opens and after it shut which my lo's loved.

You can search UKCampsite for 'glamping', also PitchUp.com have a glamour / pre erected tents filter.

There will be much cheaper options than Featherdown, etc.

Welsummer camping, very close to Leeds Castle, has bell tents.

Booked! Thanks for the encouragement. I went for Welsummer. Looks perfect! I am doing a tue/wed/thu night. Haven't told them yet as I don't think they could stand the excitement. Now to do a packing list! Luckily I have a Volvo XC90 so not stuck for space but I hate over packing so need to be organised. I have a little 1 ring camping stove and will hire a fire pit/grill too. Yay!!!

Welsummer is a lovely little site. I went a few years ago. We own one of the same campfire grills that they hire out and they are invaluable. Have a lovely time!
