I'm in a total tizz about Ile de Re or elsewhere!

And if not Ile de Re, then where? I have just looked at TOO MANY sites!! We want somewhere with a great pool, preferably a waterslide or 2, not too loud in the evenings, access to easy cycling. Walking/cycling distance to a village/town/market. In the pine trees would be lovely too.

So far I'm leaning towards La Grainetiere or Les Varennes

Happy to go somewhere apart from Ile de Re but would def need the cycling. Oh and if not Ile de Re then a lake to swim in would be good :-)

Please help - I'm driving myself nuts here. I have looked through all the archives too on here!

We have been spoilt by going to Les Valades for the past few years however the downside there is that you have to drive everywhere.

Hillbilly I posted this one on your other thread but you may have missed it.

Unless you wanted the Netherlands....

Ah thanks Prof and yes I missed that. Will look into it. Do tell about the Netherlands though! We need hot weather though.....

The Netherlands was more about if you wanted to do cycling. I did do a bit of Dutch lake camp research a few months ago but we've decided to head for the Vendee. If good weather would make or break your holiday, I would stick to France (although when we were there we had a heatwave....)

We stayed on Noirmoutier one year. I think the kids like it better than Ile de Re. Still cycling and beaches but also an aquarium place and a great water park.

We stayed at La Grainitiere last year and had a fabulous time. We had a chalet thing but it's a lovely campsite. Great pool, nice bar. Close to La Flotte which, IMO, is the nicest pocket to eat and hang out. pM if you want more info. But honestly, great holiday - and the site was recommended to me.
