I came across an interesting thread on another camping forum asking whether deodorant aerosols damage the waterproofing of canvas tents. The answer was a resounding yes, and then someone came in and said he had seen a demonstration by a fire prevention officer showing how aerosol use in any tent seriously compromises the fire retardant.
