Can You Reccommend A Campsite in The Vendee ?

We have not been to France since we had ds who will be 4 this July. We are really keen to go again and are thinking of booking a campsite direct to rent a mobile , or possibly going with one of the tour operators such as eurocamp etc. and hiring a tent.
Looking at campsites online I am overwelmed - too many too choose from . Last time we went to Brittany and took dd who was 3 ( is now 8 ) it was great but really cold at night. So am hoping that the vendee is better. We are thinking of going at the very end of June.Any ideas ?
Thanks

Thanks Orinoco have looked at clarys page - does look really good. Will have to see if I can book direct and cost it out. My sil is also going in August , as we live in Scotland we can go wearlier but have a longer journey I suppose.

hi camping bel in tranch sur mer is good, we took our own caravan ,but I think they do eurocamp and keycamp mobilehomes and tents.
Its great for young kids, its a small site, really close to beach town shops and supermarket.

le clarys plage is good, we went in the whitsun week about 3 yrs agi and enjoyed it a lot. All these campsites are easy to book online, they usually have english websites or you an email IIRC they spoke fluent english. We have had no trouble booking direct

le clarys plage

We enjoyed the Clarys Plage last year. We loved the pool, it was spotless and they were strict about shoes on poolside. It was near the beach and out the back of the campsite was a supermarket and other some shops and pizzarias.

we booked with eurocamp independent as we wanted to have the club to fall back on, but I think you might be able to book direct, try googling it, I came up with the following

www.travel-library.com/campgrounds/europe/france/la_tranche_sur_mer/camping_bel.html

Camping Bel
4 Rue Bottereau
La Tranche Sur Mer, Pays-de-la-Loire 85360 FR

Debgronow - that website looks uaseful. I can't get on to the contact details though. have checked and there is availibilty through keycamp.

If I were to phone do you know what numbers to put in front of their phone number? My French is pretty crap though

Went here last year with matthews holidays. Our Caravan was rubbish but the site was great. You can hire caravans direct from the site which were much better than ours. i had diresct access to the beach which was fab, and a lovley old fashioned amusement park in walking distance.

Colette, we have booked a mobile home via this company - they deal directly with the campsites and are much cheaper than Keycamp etc, but you have to book your ferry yourself.

here

KTeePee · 05/02/2007 10:48

Forgot to say they are based in the UK and are very helpful - if you email then they will let you know what is available for the week you want - and will phone you if necessary

colette · 06/02/2007 12:47

Sheraz and KteePee - thanks for the links it is really helpful.
I keep checking this thread . I will look at it all later as I should not really be on here should be studying

We use Camping Bel and love it, our dd will be 4 this summer and I'd say its perfect for their age. Small and quiet but with a pool and very chilled out bar, and close to everything.

We're going at the end of June and I booked last week and they had availability.

Excellent place, have been twice, and would go this year but dh is too ill to camp.

In fact I have a pitch booked in the summer if you need one....
