Campervan tour in Europe - any suggestions?

I've finally booked our Aug holiday. Having totally failed to agree on a destination we are hiring a campervan and going where the mood takes us.

Anyone got any good suggestions for somewhere with good beaches, nice campsites, stuff for 3 and 5 yr olds to do, thinking France/northern Spain or Benelux. Think my next problem will be ferry crossings but don't know where to start yet.

Would value any input, obv all bookings my responsibility (fault)!

Wow! I am so envious! I have wanted to plan a similar holiday for ages! I am (clearly NOT the person to offer advice but I do have a friend who will be returning from France shortly from a similar excursion (with 7 and 4 year olds) so watch this spot. Hopefully someone else will respond shortly.

Thanks CM I would be interested to know how your friend got on.
As I suspected I tried to book ferry crossings yesterday and am limited by the size of the vehicle. Will get my act together tomorrow and ring a human being rather than trying to do it online.
Aren't you Canadians always doing this sort of thing anyway?
