Evening all SmileI'm very lucky to have a loan of a camper van for 3 nights at the beginning of August. It will be just DS(6) and I who are going and I'm looking for ideas of where to go...don't mind driving and would be happy to have a new location to stay each night. Set and/return location will be Edinburgh...any ideas?!

I really enjoyed Tarland in Aberdeenshire - quiet surroundings, it's near-ish a road but it's not a main road and it's beyond some trees. It's walking distance from a wood with walks and bike tracks.
We saw all sorts of birds just from our pitch. It's a camping and caravanning club site.
Another one run by then is Rosemarkie which isn't particularly close to Tarland so might not make a great stop on the same holiday. It has an RSPB woodland with nice walks, a beach and almost guaranteed dolphin viewing. It's on the coast so gets windy, but if you're in a camper van that shouldn't affect you.
If you fancied Tarland, another one in Aberdeenshire (not right close though) is Stonehaven. That's a Caravan club one.
It's not my favourite campsite as it's in town, but it's good for children. There's a stony beach which is on granite on one end, sandstone the other, with lovely stones to look at. There is a huge playground just beside the site - not part of it, but so nearby. There's also the lido with outdoor salt-water (warmed) swimming, a slide, sometimes inflatables.

We stayed at a nice site on the shores of Loch Ness- saw Sea Eagles, camped right by the water.
There's also a nice site caravan club on Loch Lomond- it has baths! That was fab after a week under canvas.

Some great ideas there, thanks you! Also see what looks like a fab site near Gairloch Smile

Tour of Fife? Beaches at Aberdour (Silver Sands), fun days out in St Andrews with castles, fabulous beaches etc?

Mum4Fergus · 21/07/2016 07:58

Christmasmum-I lived in Fife for 12 years so have done it to death lol Grin been looking at the NC500 but it recommends 5 days - I could try my own shorter version maybe...
