Well I'm here for a moan really and some ideas if you have any! I booked 7 nights on Lake Garda (first week of Sept) through Leisure Direction for a fab price - £140 for a mobile home. This was subject to confirmation but three days later I heard it's unavailable at this price, only at £350. (It's the way they work I guess.) They've offered me another park but I don't like the look of it so much (Europa Silvella) also it's 20miles away from where we wanted to be.

Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do? The idea was to have a cheap holiday so I don't want to pay double the initial quote. However, flights are booked, and it's my 30th birthday pressie and I'm kind of set on Garda. I have a ds who will be 4 by that time and we wanted the beach, mega ppol complex, water slides and proximity to the themeparks.

Ideas? Or links to other useful sites (keycamp canvas etc are far too expensive for us I'm afraid...)

The bu**ers, sorry to hear that. A couple of options:
If you can hold your nerve, you will almost certainly be able to pick up a deal in a few months with the big operators, as that week is outside the main summer season. Register to receive emails from them and you will get the offers as they come out. Check the brochures now to see who goes there (and that the site will still be open)
Or contact the site, they often rent out mobiles themselves.

Thanks foxtrot, I am really not sure how this company operates; yesterday I phoned anonymously and they said there was no accomodation left anywhere in the whole of Italy for that week - ?!? Then I was quoted a price for Silvella which I checked for myself online ten minutes later, and found one lower. Now they are not returning my calls...

Thanks for advice have thought about waiting but don't know if I can hold out!

oh no tamz - after we'd sorted the bedding problem too!

I'd second foxtrot's suggestion of contacting the park directly to see if they have any availability - you never know.

are keycamp and canvas much more expensive?

Thanks for responses, hopefully (fingers crossed, touch wood and everything else) it is sorted. Yes keycamp and canvas were (comparatively) v expensive but went to Siblu and they gave me about six different discounts, they were v helpful indeed, price we got is near enough our original quote, and most importantly the camp we wanted.

You can tell I'm new to this holiday camp business can't you!

Thanks again for all advice
