We went last year!

There's a supermarket through a gate out the back of the campsite and a few shops/pizzarias. The beach is probably 5 mins walk top. Not sure about the mileage to St Jean de Monts, but it was only about 10 mins or so in the car.

The pool was spotless and they were strict about shoes not going on poolside. There were several slides, a deeper pool and a shallower section for little ones. We had hours of fun in the pool.

Dsd (10) loved it there and made loads of friends at the park. Pretty bog standard evening entertainment, disco, kareoke, one of the bullride things (I opted to stay in the caravan as dd needed an early night!).

We liked being able to go for a saunter in the evening. There was a small market out the back of the site in the evenings, with rides for dd (3).

The beach looked nice ... but we did our usual of insisting we had to go to a site by a beach, going to look at it on day 1 and not returning (but we live at the beach in the summer at home anyway).

Anything else just ask! Who are you thinking of booking with?

Booking direct is definitely cheaper - I've just got booked - Le Jard at La Tranche- no idea what it will be like but we were finding it really hard to get somewhere with a 3-bed mobile home that we could book direct. Anyone been there?

We're going to start collecting Tesco vouchers for next year. Where do you sail from/to Orinoco? Do you mind if I ask how much the ferry is.

We looked at taking our own tent, but would need a trailer and the ferries were over £600 for that. We didn't pay much more for a caravan without having to cart everything over there (and pee in a bucket at night). We live in Poole so it isn't worth us going to Dover for a ferry. Last year we got the 7.30 sailing and were in our caravan by 4.00 pm. In fact it has taken us longer to get to Cornwall.

I think we're going to save our vouchers to go with French Life. Dh delivers vehicles for a living and fills up lorries at £90 per tank several times a week. He under instruction to go to Tesco filling stations as much as possible!

We stayed at Les Genets which is next door to Le CLarys Plage. We never actually walked to the beach as parking is free & saves lugging everything up the road when you are tired etc.

The restaurants near the beach were good value, and we visited nearby GO Karts, High Ropes etc and had a FANTASTIC day out at Le Puy de Fou. Also drove to a safari type wildlife park. Both were worth the trip.

We took a look at Le Clarys Plage & it seemed a lovely site.

We went with Mathews Holidays, cost less than £900 for August school holiday break including Insurance & Fastcraft Portsmouth Cherbourg (Vomit Comet) Crossing.

I think you can still take your own to the SIBLU site at St Jean de Monts called Le Bois Dormant or Le Bois Masson (Twin sites). We have also stayed here. Great site but have to drive to beach. only 5 mons away though!

SIBLU (as was Haven) do arrange touring holidays & can book ferry etc for you. If you stay on a premiom pitch at La Carabasse (on the Med) you get your own loo & sink!!

We went to the Vendee last year with French Life. Did a night crossing Portsmouth - St Malo and were at the site by lunch time. Came back again at night from Roscsoff but only as we called in to some frinds who were staying at Benodet otherwise it would have been th night crossing from Caen.
Did th whole thing on Tesco Clubcard vouchers
When you are there you must go to the Grand Parc Puy du Foy, our two (8&9) loved it, Gladiators, Vikings,Birds of Prey & the night show was wonderful. You need to book the night show before you go as it is only on Friday & Saturday nights and gets sold out.
