Coolbox for 3 days camping- electric or not?

I normally take a cheap coolbox for several days camping. Start out with a frozen 1L water bottle used as ice pack. Only to keep stuff chilled, nothing frozen.
Wondering if its worth getting an electric one, they have them in Aldi at the moment. Or to spend the money, plus some, on a Coleman or an Igloo 5 day coolbox which seem effective and could then be used on sites without electric.

I've only ever camped once and we hired the electric one at the site. It was a godsend to be honest. Bloody enormous though - I wouldn't dream of buying one unless we had tons of space in the car. You could obviously fill it up with food and other stuff for travelling but it is not the most pliable of things to squeeze in.

We have a mobicool large electric box and it's amazing. We also have the aldi one and it's ok but you really have to avoid opening it.

Makes a huge difference for meat and of course for cold drinks!

Once you get electric though... It's hard to to back!

Hmm not sure what to do. Have managed 8 years with a normal one...just hate the dampness on everything by day 2.

Tread, space is an issue I must say.
Some look huge.

Miss, I looked at yours, cant justify paying that but it looks fab.
Why do you have to avoid opening the other one?

I had an electric / gas cool box. It was great but huge. I gave it to my parents. We use a small cool bag but only really have cheese, butter and milk to cool, so damp isn't a huge problem.

We have the aldi electric one, and mainly use it with electric but also use it when we don't have EHU. If possible, I also use 2 ice blocks with it plugged in as I find it keeps things that much cooler. Do check that it runs off 240v as LIdl/Aldi sell 2 sorts, one that just runs off 12v and a 12v/240v one.

It's also rather useful when you need extra fridge space- Christmas for example!

I bought the Aldi one for camping in France and it has been great so far. Much better than faffing about with ice packs & stays dry inside. Really pleased with it. But only a week into our trip...

We have an aldi electric one. I like that we can plug it in the car so it stays cold until we get there. We don't use it plugged in when are camping

We have an outwell one, it's brill. Gets a fair amount of condensation but nothing major

Love my electric one which I got in Aldi. Kept everything lovely and cool on our last trip. I would love one that also ran on gas but they are pricey.

I think it depends on where you want to use it.

Our gas / elec version is fine for France but I think most elec cool boxes struggle at higher temps.

Just don't leave it plugged into car ALL night was ok for few nights but did run battery flat on the third night!!

We have a proper fridge not a cooler. Best camping item we bought!!
