we had a cheap blow up mattress, it was crap, got a puncture....

have any of you found a good compact bed for camping?

any other great camping products that make it all a wee bit easier?

Coleman double chamber thingy - v posh but very reliable.

or you could go for camp bed?

mamama · 21/01/2007 20:14

Just a blow-up mattress from argos, I think, years ago. We often put a foam mat on top of it.

air beds from camping shop BUT thinking of buying camp beds in an effort to stay warmer! Sometimes the ground is ffffffreeeezing!

We use an airbed with a sheet and duvet. But here's the secret, put a foil backed picnic rug on the floor UNDER the airbed (foil side down). This'll keep you really warm. Kids the same, (but in ready-beds).

oh the coleman one sounds good

mamama where did you get your bit of foam, I wonder if a mattress topper, we no longer need, would be similar?

do fancy some kind of super compact camp bed if such things exist and are comfy?

are all the extreme campers who just dig a hip hole in the ground scoffing in disgust?

How about something like this camp bed?

We put plastic backed picnic rugs under our airbeds - nice and toasty!! like having carpets

lucycat thanks, they look a bit stingy dont't they? I have seen that one, I would be okay on it or dc would but i would prefer a double

I think our bits of foam came from a camping shop - they're designed to sleep on. I use it on top of the airbed because the airbed is comfier than a bit of foam on the ground (which is how my dad choses to camp, but he's a hardcore camper ), and the foam helps keep you warm, like the picnic blankets that others have mentioned.

I'd love a decent campbed but when I've used them in the past they've always been a bit rickety and tilt or tip over easily!
