We were in the middle of the Wicklow Mountains with Cubs and Scouts. Lots and LOTS of rain and mud. 1 Cub nearly went home due to cold (but we layered her up, and Mum brought extra supplies for night 2 so she stayed). 1 Cub went home ill night 2, but came back the following morning for final activities. 15 loads of laundry when I got home (1 was DH having spent the weekend gardening at MILs, 3 were mine, the rest were DDs as she had got mud up to her eyeballs more than once!).
Not the absolute hardest camp the other leaders have done in the past decade, but a close second (the worst was actual gales at Jamboree). I am shattered after so little sleep (I had plenty of layers for heat, but lost my hot water bottle night 1 to cold Cub, night 2 to DD who was upset and slept in my tent, and was up being "Mammy" to the various Cubs needing minding in the middle of the night, meaning I was awake for 2 (very noisy!!) dawn choruses!).
I have a hen party this weekend for 2 nights so no sleep then, DH is away this week (so no extra sleep and keep the house standing), and a concert next week (which seemed like a good idea when tickets went on sale - rare treat).
We have one more weekend camp to do in Cubs, later in June, but there is at least a free weekend after it before our family holidays to recover!
