Spent all afternoon on the Internet and still can't decide where to go and whether to bring our own or go Eurocamp style. Help!

How old are kids? Do you want them to socialise with lots of kids or hang out as a family? Do you speak french/happy to get by with google translate or prefer an english speaking courier?

what sort of site are you looing for/ how far do you want to go south?

We like low key and quiet ( but with a pool) and stayed in brantome in the Dordogne a few years ago. I loved it but there weren't many English people there and very little entertainment.... I think one night there was a man with an accordion in the bar :) here

However the river was great for swimming and the private beach was small but lovely. Plus it was walking distance to a lovely little town. I like taking our own stuff but do have a big car and lots of camping gear already I find you need to take far less if warm weather camping rather than UK camping.

Kids are 8, 13 and 16. They want to swim and after many a wet camping holiday in the UK they want it to be warm/hot and sunny. We speak good Spanish but pretty bad French ( I would prefer Spain but dh wants France). Dh is more up for the drive than I am tbh. Beach would be cool but not 100% essential. Night life is not important.

If you do lots of camping already and are not interested in nightlife, you dont really need to eurocamp/yelloh village (this will save you £££££ )

Do you want to stay on site or go out and explore? What facilities on site would you like?

popperdoodles · 01/04/2016 22:01

Lots of chilling out and swimming. Not wanting to go out and about exploring too much. Swimming pool is essential. Sports such as tennis courts would be nice. Supermarket close by would be great.
Needs to be far enough south to be reasonably sure of good weather. Needs to be well under 2,000 including travel expenses otherwise I d rather go to Spain.

Last year we went to the Dordogne to the mumsnet favourite les Valades. I was very unsure about it but it was great. One of our best hols.

Where in Spain have you been and enjoyed?

GeorgieFarmerswife · 15/04/2016 09:36

You should check out Le Camp in south west France. We have been 3 times, heard about it from a friend at work. Amazing place, great fun socially for parents and kids. So much more stylish than Keycamps / canvas holidays and same price anyway. Would have gone back this year but DH hasn't started own business so no holidays for us this year😢 Website address is www.lecamp.co.uk hope this helps!
