Anyone booked into a campsite for next year as yet and where are you going?

DH and I were chatting this afternoon and I have decided we need to start looking ahead for things to look forward to. Of course, camping is one at the top of our list. Not sure where we fancy going as yet. We absolutely love Devon and Cornwall but find the journey to Cornwall every time a nightmare with the amount of traffic.
Thinking of trying somewhere a bit different this time round - even considering the continent!!

Not booked as yet, but I know that we are going to IOW at the beginning of the 6 week hols, Norfolk at the end of the afore mentioned hols and also a long weekend at whit week.

I've spent the last 16+ years nagging dh to do camping on the continent, so that's what we're going to do.

Last 4 weeks of summer hols camping in France, might split it up and do 2 weeks France, 2 weeks Spain.

Got to start doing costings now.

I would like to go to France, though might wait until my dc are older, will go to brighouse bay in dumfries and galloway but at the beginning of the scottish school hols because I found it a bit too noisy when we went late july last year

also going to try some campsites closer to home, but not sure which yet, for weekends mostly

Peachy, we always stay in that area (Pentewan) when we go to Cornwall. Have you been before? You will love it!

I booked that very campsite last year and we had to cancel for a family funeral.

Never stayed there as it was always too expensive previously, but it looks lovely. Really near the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Don't forget to check out Polmassick vineyard too.

Never been there but heard good things- normally go to IoW, but taking Mum and Dad so Someret (where they live) is en route so amde sense

Vineyard eh?????? Should be good, my aprents, erm, like to participate in the local stuff LOL!

It's brilliant. The campsite is on its own private beach, which itself is on a lush and fairly quiet peninsular of South Cornwall.

The beaches round there are white and the sea is bright blue, and reasonably undiscovered compared to say Newquay etc.

The little villages are picturesque and there are some lovely tucked away country pubs. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are very near - a visit is essential. But the Eden Project is reachable and is great too.

It is the kind of hidden country place where you take the wrong turn and find yourself in high-sided lanes that aren't marked on the map. My advice is try the coastal paths which are stunning!

I am definitely going to book soon for summer - apparently it gets booked up fairly soon in the year.

we're taking ap[rents too so the pubs might be getting a visit UNACCOMPANIED BY KIDS one night!

DS3's having his 4th birthday whilst we're there too, should be great

The campsite in Cornwall looks lovely.Am really looking at booking it.We have a trailer tent but might book a caravan just for a bit of a change-did you camp or caravan.
We have 3 children-14, 11 and 3.Will the older girls have something to do.While i def. dont want to camp next to a roudy club i need to know the girls can take a safe walk to the somewhere.As much as i`d love to camp on a secluded field need to think of them too.Are the pitches private ect.Would love to hear more.Sorry so long.

mooshy, i have actually never stayed at that actual campsite.

We always go to that exact area of Cornwall - around Mevagissey/Lost Gardens, but although we have been to it to have a look, I have never managed to stay on the Pentwan sands one.

However, I know people who have been, and I was booked in last year before a family funeral caused us to cancel at the last minute.

From what I remember, it would be a good place for teenagers. FOr a start the site itself is on the beach, and it is quite large so there are plenty of other families around. There is Pentewan village nearby, and (its own private?) footpath to Mevagissey, which is a nice little Cornish seaside harbour. Meva has seasidey shops etc and some nice cafes, although it is more real and less 'posh' than some places in Cornwall.

The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Eden Project would make good visits for teenagers, as would the many beaches round there. I think there is some kind of cafe/bar on site which would be good as well.

Mooshy have a look at uk campsite website, there's lots of reviewws on there.

but there is also a swimming pool on site which they should enjoy, cycle hire next door and amusements- I would have though that would be a good start? There is a restautrant on site and a club (and al;so a kids club which the 11 year old might like), but you can request to be away from it if you want- we have actually requested to be close, as the facillities our SN older child needs are close which makes him as independent as we can mange, iyswim.

And just sent off the one for Cheddar- now anyone with teenagers that would be ideal- as well as the kiddy stuff (besta dventure playground you can imagine, absolutely huge) and various animals (and a pool in high season) there's skateboarding, BMX, and they do adventure activities from there, like rock climbing and caving on the mendips.

We, erm, tend to avoid that side of it LOL

Found the bit with the location of that BelleTents one (looks fun). Cutting and pasting, it's like a treasure hunt!
Owls Gate is set in 2½ acres of gardens on the edge of Bodmin Moor and 5 miles from the North Cornwall coast.
The town of Camelford is 4 miles.Boscastle is 6 miles and Tintagel 7 miles.
Anyone got a map and a piece of string?

We just book the week or night before too. We stayed at a campsite in Tintagel last year, just outside at Bossiney cove. it was a lovely area

Just booked East Fleet Farm nr Weymouth for Aug, we're both teachers so can't get away with leaving it til the last minute but it looks fab and all the reviews on uk campsite are positive, can't wait! Will probably also do lakes or northumberland Whit week, but they're 'local' so less hassle

I fanicied east fleet last year, but don't they ahve small pitches or something? That seemed to be the indication from the website. Our tent is 7m square.

PC - East Fleet do have some bigger pitches

"Our standard size pitches will accommodate units up to 6m x 8m - we do have giant pitches available for larger units at 1 1/2 pitch surcharge during peak season."

We are going to garangeoire (sp?)in the vendee, in August too, also thinking about Eurodisney in May and going by euro tunnel using tesco vouchers to pay for it.
