camping with river uk/south

Long shot here.... We normally go to France camping in the summer holidays. However we are getting a puppy soon so as it will still be Young so we are thinking uk camping. We like river swimming - loved River dart out of season but not holiday! Or walking distance near a quiet beach (which allows dogs). So ideally looking for quiet campsite, water nearby, Cornwall, Devon or Dartmoor. Any suggestions? oh and we like BBQ and campfires!

Not really in the area you want but take a look at FForest fields near Brecon in Wales. Very dog friendly and has a lake, allows campfires too.

Stowford Manor is near a river swimming club, but in Frome. There is also an Adults only small basic campsite on the Thames at Clifton Hambden.

Snelling Farm in Dorset looks a great site

I've walked past chy carne in kennack sands on the lizard in Cornwall. Dog friendly site and beach, looks pretty tidy.

If you want rustic, try tremayne quay on the helford. Precisely no facilities and free but the location is fab!
