Caravan layout

We bought our fest caravan last year and have had some amazing g weekends away in it.

Now we have the bug we have been talking about different layouts.

I am interested in what other people like about the layout they have (and how many people use it).

If you would change anything? What would you change?

We have a five birth. Two double/King and both ends. The bathroom is in the middle and its tiny (I am thinking an end bathroom)!

Hoe many people is it for? Ours has a layout like yours.
When.we look for a new one we will be looking for a bunk and a single bed I quite like the mid bathroom because I can use it in the night without having to pass dc.
5 of us use ours and it has done us fine but the dc are bigger now they need separate beds rather than all in sleeping bags in the king.
If it was for just the two of is or even less dc I'd want a fixed bed and an end bathroom. Fixed bed has loads of storage underneath.

2 adults, and I have a 2 abd 5 year old (and a dog). Plus we haven't ruled out a third child Hmm.
I like having a bathroom - but hate ours is so tiny.

We have the same layout as you and I wouldnt want any other, Dd3 has one end made up as a double and DP and I have the other, in the summer we lived in the awning so left our bed out somedays [Dd3's stays out]. We only really use the loo [at night and early morning] and the sink for teeth brushing and go over to the toilet block for washes and showers so the small bathroom doesnt bother us.

We have triple fixed bunks at the back and a dinette that we can all (just) squeeze round. Tiny bathroom in the middle and offs that make up into a king sized at the front. We are 2 adults and 2 kids aged 8 and 6. Love our layout as we don't have to faff round making the kids beds up, we also put the awning up for longer stays and leave our bed made up too (lazy...).

Bathroom is teeny tiny but we always stay on campsites and use their facilities so it would be a waste for us to waste living space on bathrooms.

My first caravan was a two berth with an end bathroom. Bathroom was a nice, good size.

Ive currently got a Lunar 464 with a mid bathroom, there's pros and cons.

I like having the wardrobe in the actual main caravan, not in the bathroom. The bathroom is smaller, but not the smallest ive seen. It's got a proper, separate shower cubicle rather the shower being pretty much over the toilet like ive seen.

However it's a bit too cramped to get changed in the bathroom and I tend to get changed in the main caravan. Which might be a problem for some.

The main thing I love about my van is the rear dinette, and this was the reason for buying that layout. I love having a window at the back of the van. Gives a totally different view out, and often a much quieter, not overlooking other caravans kind of view. I like sitting at the back having breakfast.

LOVE our layout. 2 ad 2 ch.
Lounge one end that turns into super king size bed.
Kitchen in the middle with a dinette that the 4 of us can sit round (small kids!) that turns into a single if we ever needed it.
Other end is kids bunks with a screen that pulls across and the bathroom with a decent size shower.
We keep talking about swapping back to a Campervan but can't bear to lose the super comfy massive bed!!

Were used to have one like Christmasmum - Bailey Pegasus. Although we use site facilities we also go to cls so wanted a separate shower. Now have fixed bunks at the end with curtains across and an end bathroom. Mid kitchen and dinette and end lounge / king size bed. Dcs love their bunks and having a private space. The shower being separate is brilliant.

We had a 16 foot long caravan with seats and tables at both ends. The rear converted to a double, the front converted to the largest bed I've ever seen, it would have easily slept four (in fact you could sleep full length on the seats without making it up into bed mode). Kitchen, wardrobe and bathroom were in the middle. Bathroom wasn't big but it was big enough. It was a great caravan, felt really big inside because of the large seating and sleeping areas. It also had a lino floor rather than carpet, which was far more practical.

Different layouts suit different people though, it's worth having a look at caravans at a showroom simply to get the feel for different layouts, as what you see on paper might not suit you in reality (for example you can get end bathrooms that are spacious and end bathrooms that are just narrow and feel cramped).

ours is a bailey pursuit. 5 berth, bunks in one back corner, bathroom in the other back corner, side dinette and front seats to make up the double. mid kitchen. I think it feels roomier than a mid washroom which sort of split the space in half. We don't tend to use the washroom so the fact that it is smaller than many is fine for us. Our small girls use the side dinette for colouring and games or eating breakfast whilst we're still in bed. the front seats are long enough to seat all six of us if we have to. (the older children sleep in a tent of their own.

We have a folding camper at the moment and are thinking of upgrading to a caravan. DC are a bit older than OP's so our requirements are a bit different.
The two layouts I like are

Dinette converting to bunks at one end that I can put a screen across to keep DC separate, and

Fixed bunks at one end with a dinette opposite.

I think that it's nice for DC to have their own area where they can store their stuff and sit during the day.

I wouldn't use up much space for the bathroom as the amount of time we'd spend in it relative to the other activities is much less.

One thing I absolutely insisted on when we got ours was an end bathroom. It's fabulous and large. Really glad we did. We have a table that converts to bunks in the middle and the kids adore it. They think their bunks are the best thing ever and to be honest we leave those up all holiday as we have an awning for sitting space.

We had the same layout to start with.
But this week DH has altered the back of the van to have triple bunks! We just couldn't afford to change vans but with 3 kids desperately needed fixed bunks.
So he did it! Now looking forward to Easter!!!

It's the perfect layout for our family of 5 and feels very spacious.

We had a Bailey Indiana before we had ds3 which was the same layout without the side dinette which converts into bunks.

I can't wait for the season to begin.
