My tent is telling me something but I don't know ^what^.

It's cotton, secondhand (new to me this year) and has thankfully proved its self to still be totally waterproof, no doubt about it. But, when sodden it looked a bit odd with the light shining through it. It must indicate something but I don't know what!

The dark spots are leaves and fucking birch seed, it's the colour variation I'm confused about. Could anyone give me some pointers?

Well in the third picture she is telling you she had a fabulous figure and is happy to sit for life classes.

(Or is it just me that sees the torso and thighs of a woman ? Is it like those slices of aubergine with the outline of the Virgin Mary?)

More wine Blu Grin?

lavendersun · 06/09/2015 20:46

Looks fine to me OP - just looks like it has had a bloody good soaking on the crease marks from it being folded.

Divine intervention aside that is.

LettuceLaughton · 06/09/2015 21:00

Really Lavandersun? That's great to hear!

I thought it might well be something awful, I don't know, the fabric breaking down or displacement of some waterproofing type substance or summat? I really must do some research, I think. Kind of fell into it and am embarrassingly clueless. How come the fabric doesn't get equally and uniformly soaked? How can that not matter?

The tent is certainly a curvy beauty and probably happy to pitch for life classes.

That is lovely Lettuce - what is it - we have an albatros as one of our tents, looks a bit similar.

lavendersun · 06/09/2015 21:13

If it causes a problem then you could fabsil or whatever is recommended for canvas tents. We have always had canvas tents - the 'wet look' is often not uniform.

lavendersun · 06/09/2015 21:14

Third post to say that I have never reproofed a tent - bought my first canvas tent nearly 30 years ago and it is still going strong, I gave it to a friend in 2008!

That's really very helpful! Thanks!

This is Dutch too (as are we) but it's not a De Waard, is a Randstad Bunzing. I love it to bits Grin

Never heard of that one Lettuce, looks really nice .... we are very excited to be taking our Dutch tent to Holland next year Grin.

W00t · 06/09/2015 21:23

More importantly- what on earth is on your bunting? Looks like thor's lightning bolts and a startled hedgehog Confused

LettuceLaughton · 06/09/2015 21:27

Oooh, have fun then lavander!

W00t - there's all sort of shit on them. Mostly, erm, 'abstracts' in wool and felt Hmm. Kept the DC busy on and off for ages while we were waiting to go.
