Any campers sending surplus equipment to Calais?

The agencies taking care of the humanitarian needs of the people at Calais are asking for tents, sleeping bags, mats, wellies, waterproofs etc. Anyone interested in donating a tent or sleeping bag can check for a local collection point
here or here.

I saw a list also asking for plastic plates, cutlery, pans, torches / lanterns and tarps. No gas stoves.

We have just donated a tent and 2 camp beds to a local organisation who are organising a drop - we upgraded to a motorhome this year so did intend to ebay but would prefer they went to a good cause. Also getting DH to go through his many coats to donate some (he has over 10 to my knowledge, though he says they all have a different use!)

I'm taking my first tent - I went off it because there was a lot of pole-threading involved for short trips, but it is a grand tent for anyone who wants to pitch it and leave it. Plus we seem to have extra sleeping bags and mats, and LOADS of plastic plates, bowls and cutlery.

I wonder if they need chairs? I haven't seen them on a list.

yep, we are taking sleeping mats to the local drop off point tomorrow plus I'll have a nose around to see if there are any other bits. I think we have some tarps and a duvet we don't need and I'm sure there is more in the loft that I've forgotten about. Really pleased if it can go to good use
