Camp Bestival with a 19 month old

My DD will only sleep with sensory deprivation... dark room, no noise. She won't sleep in a buggy, even with a black out. How on earth am I going to get her to sleep at lunch and evening at Camp Bestival? Any tips from experienced camping mums?

I think you're just going to have to wait till she falls asleep from sheer exhaustion. Plenty of fresh air and activity should help with that. Sorry I don't have any more helpful advice.

thanks Thumbcat. that's what I thought the advice would be... I guess I was just hoping for a miracle cure Smile

Having been to camp bestival on about 5 occasions - although not with very small kids, I'd say get involved with lots of day time activities and let her crash out in the evening - be prepared to spend your evenings back at your tent!! Have funSmile

Ear defenders

Delilahfandango · 20/07/2015 21:15

Definitely ear defenders! Just got back from Larmer Tree and the lack of ear defenders on kids really surprised me!

Lonecatwithkitten · 21/07/2015 08:47

Ear defenders - camp Bestival is awash with them. Covering your trolley and making it like a small tent.
It never ceases to amaze me the tinies asleep in trollies with ear defenders on when the head line bands are on.
Me I have 11 year old who goes from dawn till the last band - bring on the wine.

Deliahfandango if you saw my toddler Dd at the Larmer Tree without ear defenders then it's because every time we put them on she took them off, even during the Levellers! But op maybe your DD will like them. Would she perhaps sleep in a carrier on your back? Or maybe she will be ok staying up late for a couple of the nights.

Delilahfandango · 23/07/2015 08:55

I can see that would be a problem ArriettySmile I wasn't meaning to criticise, it just surprised me! It's a great festival isn't it?

dreamingaboutcheese · 25/07/2015 08:53

right, ear defenders purchased, tent for trolley sorted. someone just pray this rain stops so we have good weather?!

Forecast for next week Lulworth only 10% chance rain highs 23 and lows 11, so looks good pack layers it can get chilly watch the bands in the evenings.
