Would Futon mattress make a good camp bed?

We slept on a 5cm Sim last year with a double duvet on top. It was warm but not particularly comfortable. I was wondering whether a futon mattress would be more comfortable? Are they very large when they're folded up? We haven't got much space in the car.

Cheaper version that works for me... A homebase sun lounger cushion. Get a long one. I find my hips much more comfortable and it would be much lighter and pack able than a futon.

We wouldn't have room for that Super - I would worry about it getting damp too.

I understand - I like to keep things simple too. We still seem to have ridiculous amounts of stuff due to there being 5 of us though! Clothes, sleeping bag, blanket, SIM, pillow, chair x5 is quite a lot of gear!

Sobek - not sure how much room you have (I wouldn't have room for it), but caravanners seem to like these:

As well as a SIM though so a lot of extra bulk.
