We've just bought a caravan and am seriously tempted to buy some folding solar panels but just wondered f anyone could answer some basic questions about it all?

We have had them in the roof of all our (3) motorhomes and they are fab, especially at a festival with no hook up.

Our caravan has them.

Excellent! So what power have you gone for, and what sort of performance do you get? DH is gadget mad so is it a case of get the biggest you can, or is it a case of get what will charge up your leisure battery in X amount of time?

Complete novice caravanned so know virtually nothing about leisure batteries, solar power or anything and information seems to only come from people desperate to sell you their one

We always go for the most powerful watt at that will fit on the roof of the current van. With a caravan I suppose you have to put it freestanding outside so are just restricted by luggage space and any weight restrictions?
Because is in the roof our leisure battery is always fully charged and always replenishes itself well enough even on couch days to allow lights, water pump etc to work. We have adapters so our phones can be charged up too. The TV eats your battery though so watch that, but we only put ours on if weather awful to watch a film or the news.

Ours was on the caravan when we got it so sorry don't have a clue.

I think most powerful we can get will be the way forward. They do a folding 150W one so could get that and hopefully that would be plenty, even with screen obsessed DH. I think we'll head to a rally site and see how quickly the battery goes down and see from there. Thanks.
