Loved this campsite!! Wanted to share...

I have just come back from Camping Le Pin Parasol on Lac de Jaunay in the Vendee in France. Campsite was almost empty except eurocampers and was GORGEOUS so wanted to share with everyone!! Totally recommend it as a family friendly site with great pool complex, clean facilities, right next to lake with walks/cycle rides/creperie!! And as a final plus the Eurocamp couriers were fabulous, totally helpful and lovely!!! Feel slightly guilty for having such a fab may 1/2 term!!

It sounds lovely Hetty What was the weather like? Might be a plan for next May...

Do you mind me asking what there was to do off-site in the Vendee? We're thinking of it for the summer (better get a wriggle on and book!) but have a slight concern about whether there's much to do apart from the beach.

Has anyone been here in peak season ie July/Aug? Wonder what it's like when it's full?

Weather was lovely in the day, sunny and warm, kids swam outside happily. Fleeces and socks in evening though!! There are a fair amount of things to do - lots of kids friendly forests/gardens etc. A few museums etc. Towns and harbours...plus lovely countryside/beaches.i have been before in the summer and although you can't quite guarantee the weather it is usually fine!! Hope that helps, I would recommend...but if you do t mind no beach I would be tempted to drive another couple of hours south...

Was the pool covered?

We went there a couple of years ago and loved it - it looks from the website like the pool has even more slides now (there were only 2 when we went).

LikeASoul, we were there the last week of July and it was BOILING - 42 degrees according to the car (which we escaped to a few times to have a drive just for the air-con!). The campsite was full but the pitches are so nicely set out that you don't feel cramped or overlooked at all. There was always room around the pool. There were certain times when it was impossible to get into the shower block, but if you were flexible about when you showered it was fine. In fact, my only real 'complaint' about the place was their idiotic policy of closing (by locking the doors) the toilets first thing in the morning (just when you're bursting!) to clean them. Oh, and no gin in the bar :( , just wine or beer. The onsite shop charged silly money for a bottle of wine you could buy in the LeClerc in St Gilles for €2 but it did provide gorgeous fresh bread! When we went there wasn't a creperie, but there was a sort of nissen hut that had pizza and rotisserie chickens and salad to take back to your tent, and every day a greengrocer's van turned up with different fruit to buy.

We drove into St Gilles Croix De Vie for a proper seaside resort experience (and lovely restaurants) and to Bretignolles Sur Mer (closer) for an amazing, long, flat sandy beach with the most hermit crabs I've ever seen in my life (take beach shoes!), but hardly any facilities (although the crepe restaurant was great and did the best ice creams I've had in France!)

I don't appear to have taken any photos of our pitch, but this is the pool area and a view of the edge of our pitch and the distance to the next one (ignore DD and her face paints - she enjoyed the kids activities but was too old (she felt) for the mini disco, much to our relief!).
