Clothes storage in the tent?

Any good ideas for clothes storage in the tent? We usually use holdalls but I want something the kids can access better themselves. Can't quite find what I'm looking for:

  • one per child, to hold 4-5 days' worth of clothes
  • can be packed at home
  • squashy sides for packing in the car
  • not too deep so kids can find their own clothes
  • not too expensive
  • fit at the end of their beds

I was hoping the small Ikea bags would do the job (and would be an absolute bargain at 25p each!) but they're not big enough. Everything I've seen so far is either too big/small/deep/expensive.

Not sure if these would fit the bill but we use them when we go on 2/3 week camping trips.

Thanks hillbilly are they similar to the skubb ones? I was looking at them in Ikea and think they're ideal but dh is adamant we need squashy to fit in the car - are the sides quite rigid? I reckon if I packed the car this would be unnecessary

Lidl do good bags a bit bigger than IKEA. They are about 60p I think. Mine is v cheery with bananas on.

I gave just at brought 2 car boot organisers for clothes; am hoping they will help us organise clothes but we will pack clothes in holdalls for the journeys

The sides are rigid but can be folded down to make them squidgy enough for packing in the car. Then on arrival you can make the sides rigid again.

Not sure if the Skubb ones have collapsible sides.......

Looks like they do if I am understanding the instructions correctly? Is that how yours work? Can't see my boys being too keen on the pretty floral print Grin

I bought four M&S bags for life last year after years of packing in holdalls, they were absolutely perfect.

HalestormRock · 13/05/2015 18:19

Would you not consider the storage cupboards sold in places like Go Outdoors? They break down small and only take 5 minutes or so to put up. I have a couple of them - they are really good. Couldnt stands living out of holdalls last season, so told DH i wasn't camping again unless we got the storage sorted. A tidy tent makes all the difference.
Also - if you are on Facebook you should join a group called 'Tent Talk' - loads of wonderful camping tips on there - I am on it more than Mumsnet these days :)

Also on Facebook - a group called 'Under Canvas'

when I was young and used to go on weeks long camping trips all our clothes were packed in big holdalls for the car then we got cardboard boxes from supermarkets to keep our clothes in whilst we were away. Easier to get into and keep tidy I guess

MagentaVitus · 13/05/2015 18:29

Whats your tent like? We used a collapsable rail and hung everything up.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · 13/05/2015 20:35

Thought about storage cupboards (we already have one for kitchen stuff/food) but really fancied something that could fit at the end of their beds (so keep it all out of the living space) and crucially, that I can pack at home.

Will have a look at M&S bags for life.

Off to investigate Tent Talk and Under Canvas Smile Thanks for the tip Halestorm

Hope you like the FB pages as much as I do.
I love looking at all the pictures of other peoples tents and set ups -it's like camping porn to me ;)
