Attaching bunting to tent

I know. This is not serious camping talk.

But... How do I attach my lovely bunting to the tent? I could use pegs, but they're so big and obvious. I also want to put some solar fairy lights around the porch, so ideally would like a solution that would hold both or just one.

Any ideas?

Ok so they are pegs, but wilkos do really sweet tiny coloured pegs that could maybe hold them? Or maybe some that wire stuff used to tie up cables?

Bunting is easy to attach, just tie the bunting string around the bits where your guy ropes attach to the tent at the top, or another protruding bit depending what type of tent you have. Or you could tie a tight piece of string across the top of the door (tied on at both top corners to any sticky out bits) and lace your bunting and lights around that.

I had a lovely camping hen do and my friends did a wonderful job of prettying my tent

I attach fairy lights to the tops of guys or where the external clips meet the poles.

But the pound shop had garden clips - like clothes pegs but sturdier - and I've got them for next time.

I attach all this and more when I go to festivals and can hand on heart say that I have never brought anything with me for the sole purpose of attaching it. There's loops and ropes and gaps and lholes" aplenty on a tent, go wild with them!!!

I just tie mine to the various loops and ropes on the tent/frame. I have bunting inside and out. I've also got some solar fairy lights for this years' trip.

The tent is an airbeam, so not quite as many places to loop things. There's also a big porch, so I have 220cm on each side of the porch without guys or loops. I'm going to tie the bunting up to each end if that makes sense, and see if it sags too much, and if it does, I'll get the little pegs and use a few. I expect that will work.

Hijacking - which Airbeam tent do you have and is it any good? I've been looking at them but they're very expensive with not many reviews.

Don't apologise. I love my tent, and I can't tell you how delighted I am to be able to waffle on about it.

I have the Vango Lumen V 500, last year's model, bought on a special offer with footprint and carpet about a month ago. I think the Solaris looks similar from this year's range.

It was expensive. I can't get away from that, but I needed something I could put up on my own, as DH won't be able to join us every time, and I desperately wanted space so I went for a fairly huge tent for DD and I (and possibly my sister and friends to join us). I estimate I've paid about £200 for airbeams over tents with a similar design with traditional poles. For me the convenience and confidence it gives me that I can put it up without worrying too much is worth it, and I got some work recently that enabled me to pay that premium.

I've only had one test pitch so far in my parents garden, and I love it. I have waited a couple of years to actually buy a tent after trying out bells on campsites, and I was confident what I wanted. I needed to stand up in it, I wanted windows, separate bedrooms, a big door at the front to let in fresh air and a massive porch. It also had to be a colour that was nice to look at from the inside. It has all those things, and the space inside is light and open. Sitting in it made me feel very happy indeed, and I could see how it wouldn't be too bad to be in in the rain.

I can't tell you how well it stands up to rain, or in wind, as it was sunny when I put it up. Other Vango airbeams seem to have good reviews, and it seems very solid.

Thankyou, your reasoning sounds identical to mine. Which colour did you get? I prefer the 2015 green to the 2014 iguana but I'm not particularly fussed.

I'm not sure - I think it's iguana. Tbh, it's pretty green. The site I finally bought it off didn't specify which it was, but others that did had images they labelled iguana which looked the same. The roof is obviously lighter colour when you're inside and light pours in. I'm fussy about the quality of light in tents, I find a lot of blue and dark colours funny to be in, and this is fine.

Going back to bunting, I have always used pegs to attach it for speed and easy removal when packing up

Just popping back to say I've now bought a tent :o I got a good deal on the Solaris 600 after going to see the Spectrum at a camping shop on Saturday. Thanks OP! Now I need to investigate bunting... I think it looks quite nice attached to those solar lanterns (added bonus of not falling over it in the dark). Like this.

I have cut out flags, edged a blanket and have sketched out an idea for a tablecloth that ties onto table legs with pockets on the sides. So far this tent has meant more sewing than camping....

Tablecloth that ties on to table legs, you say...?
