Can anyone recommend a good site in the Yorkshire Dales?

Posted too soon! It would be for a week in May with two children, so some kind of playground would be good but not essential... A site which allows fires would be great!

I know some lovely places but they are all farmers field type sites, no playground and very basic facilities. There was a new site that opened near Bolton Abbey that had good reviews but I can't remember the name.

UK campsite is a good place to look, lots of site reviews and you can search by county or town and then of number miles from there

We stayed at mason's in appletreewick last year and loved it. You can have fires (in their firepit thingies) - no playground, but there's a rope swing over the river which kept my 7 and 5 year olds entertained. It's in a lovely area of wharfedale too.

Was just about to recommend Masons!

We were wondering about Masons...nice to hear good reviews, thanks!

My best friend from school lived at Appletreewick - I spent lots of happy childhood years there Smile, not remotely relevant ....

not a recommendation but a word of advice, the sites are lovely but the midges are right fuckers.
