Clothes storage

There are five of us and we usually camp for 3 weeks in summer and have one massive bag for all the clothes. Drives me mad finding everyone's clothes!

This year I want a bag for everyone, a soft bag probably. We have a big open tent, so I need to keep tidy.

How do you store clothes? Any recommendations please? TIA

We are 5 and each have a bag from IKEA like this We initially got some fancier laundry bags from ebay but they were too big. These are a good size and if you don't fill them will squash to help with car packing.

I would make sure you get a bag that zips. The good thing about these bags are that you can use them for travel as well as storage in the tent.

I also have a little drawstring cloth bag that came with a soap and glory set years ago, which I put my underwear into to help with organisation. It's still in the main bag but kind of like an underwear drawer. I don't bother with this for anyone else though- they can struggle on to find their clean pants!

Could you not use a camping wardrobe?

Also we take pillowcases to put laundry into, just grab and whisk off to the washing machines, one for each person. Just imposes a feeling of In Control even though all is really chaos, hurhur.

Envy at three weeks, how lovely.

We use ebags. Have one for each of us. This year I'm considering buying a pop up laundry bin to help keep the dirty clothes altogether

Three of us and we have our own bags. We just use the bags we use for travelling generally, stored zipped up down the sides of the tent (which is low so it sort of uses the space). Dirty clothes all thrown in together in a laundry bag I made for camping that sits in a corner.

Our bags are these which are great because they open on 3 sides and have different zipped bits for underwear/socks etc. Works really well for us, we do camp for extended trips and it works, I just sort the laundry on the day of washing and put it back in the individual bags folded.

We have 2 of these for 4 of us which we use for our long summer camp. I pack them like cases in the car but with the rigid sides folded down flat and they hey presto, transfer them to the tent for beautiful and organised clothes storage always leave them open with clothes spilling out Grin

For dirty clothes I have separate laundry bags.

Overhereinthecorner · 18/03/2015 11:15

Sticking with the Ikea theme, we have the old version of these and can use one each or one between two. These ones are prettier than ours. Worked fine for two months in a tent.

I just use the ordinary blue 40p IKEA shopping bags. Flexible and squashable for packing in the car, easy to leave things folded in, but easy to get things out of, once the dirty clothes are in a bin liner, pillows etc can be stuffed in the IKEA bag for the journey home. Those IKEA bags are used for lots of things - a willies one, a 'hard weather gear' one, one to take to the beach with towels, one with logs in it....

Thumbcat · 20/03/2015 20:37

I use those blue IKEA bags too Blu. Never had one full of willies though Shock Grin

Wink
Overhereinthecorner · 22/03/2015 07:27

But Blu, what do you use for the balls?Grin

beachyhead · 22/03/2015 07:34

We have a sainsburys Bag for Life each, then one for swimming stuff, one for coats, (willies stay in the car Grin). They stack like Lego blocks in the back of the car!

Overhereinthecorner · 22/03/2015 11:27

So Beachy, how do the willies feel about being abandoned in the car while you have camping fun?

topsmart · 26/03/2015 15:58

4yoniD I lust after that bag too! I'm sure it would solve all of our clothes camping storage issues. Can't justify price tag though!

SmileAndNod · 29/03/2015 20:29

I have bought some of the Ikea drona boxes in a different colour for each of us. Our first big camp last year and I got really fed up of hunting through to find everyone's clothes because clearly I'm the only person capable. Anyway, they pack down flat and I'm hoping that they will keep everyone's stuff neat and tidy. We use the blue Ikea bags for wellies and laundry. Ikea must do a really good trade from campersSmile
