Festival essentials for teen girls

DNiece is off to her first parent-free festival in August. Her 16th birthday is a few weeks beforehand so I thought I'd make up a pack of useful bits & bobs, but I've never done festivals myself so I could use some help!

So far I'm thinking...

Mini dry shampoo spray
Antibac hand gel
Deodorant wipes
Sunscreen wipes
Waterproof mobile phone pouch
One of those mobile phone charger blocks that you charge at home & take with you to top up if you're away from electricity
Emergency tenner Grin
Picture frame to stick a photo of her & her mates in when she gets back

Anything I've missed, or anything naff that I shouldn't include?

All tips much appreciated!

Condoms.

MarieJeanne · 15/03/2015 11:26

I clicked to say condoms as well
Maybe a mini travel toothbrush and paste or chewing gum

MarieJeanne · 15/03/2015 11:27

Cereal bars

CatsCantTwerk · 15/03/2015 11:27

JiltedJohnsJulie You beat me to it! Grin

MaudeLebowski · 15/03/2015 11:34

Jilted nailed it.

I did similarly for DSD when she went off to her first festival. I think I also included one of those very thin ponchos to keep her dry if it rained, and some henna tattoo just for fun. And blister plasters.

WyrdByrd · 15/03/2015 11:51

In all honesty I'm not sure we'Re close enough for me to supplying the johnnies but I don't doubt SIL will be on the case in that dept!

Poncho & blister plaster added to list!

Loving the henna idea too - am getting some for DD & I as we had it done last year on hols and it cost a bloody fortune - going DIY this year!

Torch

Takver · 15/03/2015 12:04

Marshmallows (if it's the sort of festival where there will be fires)

wawabear · 15/03/2015 12:09

Plasters
Baby wipes (for mud and there's never any loo roll)
Small emery board
Cereal bars
Lightweight waterproof jacket (Topshop do the ones that pack away)

Condoms really do you think that little of 16 year old girls.

MaudeLebowski · 15/03/2015 12:18

Helping someone to have safe, respectful and legal sex is not thinking little of 16 year old girls.

If anything, it is thinking very highly of them.

The mind boggles... are some parents really this out of touch?

yellowdaisies · 15/03/2015 12:22

You can buy the little tubes of henna tattoo paste for next to nothing online

yellowdaisies · 15/03/2015 12:25

There's nothing wrong with 16 year old girls who decide they're ready for it buying condoms and having sex, but to buy them for an only-just 16 year old who's not necessarily even got a boyfriend would be a bit of an odd thing for an aunt to do IMO Shock

MaudeLebowski · 15/03/2015 12:28

I agree actually, but only because she is the aunt. It is her mum's job really. The OP has said she's not close enough to buy her condoms. Thats fair enough as an aunt.

However, on the topic of mums and daughters:

Just like you'd buy your DD tampons and pads before her first period, you should buy condoms before becoming sexually active.

Set it up as the norm before they even start.

WyrdByrd · 15/03/2015 19:47

Have added poncho and dynamo torch to shopping list - also eye mask and ear plugs!

Poundland torch on a string (in the camping/fishing section)...great for dark portaloos/tents as you can hang them up. Mini packets of tissues, much easier to carry than loo roll! Glow sticks. Temporary tattoos. Flashing ice cubes. Little waterproof mat to sit on (Poundland again). Floral head band thingy (Primark)...those are a few of my essentials anyway!

mrsdiddlydoo · 23/03/2015 08:07

Refillable water bottle?
Wet wipes
Loo roll! You just have to take a bit with you on each adventure out of the tent
Glow sticks are good fun and useful
Earplugs
Cereal bars

Wellies and flip-flops! But more than likely her and mum will be on the case.
