We've left booking really later this year so don't even know what's available, but need to sort out summer holds. Fr w Weber got o our own those. For the last few years we've done lakes and mountains holidays but need a change this year. Thinking of vendee for decent weather.
Essentials for the site include:
Excellent pool ideally with slides, water play or similar,
Play areas
Shop for basics
somewhere to eat or takeaway food

les brunelles www.ms-vacances.com/location-camping-club-vacances/camping-longeville-sur-mer-les-brunelles/

I've not been but friends have and said it was great.

Miltonmaid · 06/03/2015 21:41

I should add they hired one of the chalets rather than a tent.

Sol a Gogo - great pool, direct access to a beautiful beach, handy for St Jean de Monts, St Gilles Croix de Vie, little take away, supermarkets nearby. Have a look at booking direct with the site or through Charles Alexander, Charisma or Hello France.

Camping Bel is fab if your DC are small, though the pool is limited... the evening entertainment more than makes up for it

Bit far from Vendee but... I recommend Le Soleil in Argeles sur Mer. Went a few years ago and has everything you are looking for, we're going back this summer Smile

La Garangeoire. Amazing 5* camping.

Gazelle, I've read that la garangeoire it's very British in high season. DH would hate that! His idea of a perfect holiday would be to avoid all brits!!! I love the sound of the site though.
Miltonmaid, that site looks amazing, children would love out. It's very expensive though so need to compare till others. I'm off to check out your other ideas now.
Thank you, please keep the recommendations coming!

We've been here. Very few Brits! Mostly french site. Good pool, slides, not far to beach (short drive or 20 min walk), take away, shop. Nice site.

Bazelle · 07/03/2015 13:13

Millimat, let me tell you that the Brits at la Garangeoire are top drawer. I was concerned as well and I actually prefer that than the average smoking moaning yelling French :)

bazelle it's not the type of Brits abroad- sorry if it sounded snobbish. More that dh just wants to think he's away from home. If he had his way we'd be going somewhere away from all civilisation!!

The Vendee will be very British, whichever site you go to. Il de Re is in the area but will have lots more French and Dutch.

helensteph · 15/03/2015 20:35

Although Le Clarys Plage will have it's fair share of Brits on holiday there, it is in my opinion one of the best campsites in the Vendee and satisfies all of your requirements, Great pool complex, a brilliant play area, direct access through a security gate to the local supermarket and an onsite takeaway.

millimat · 15/03/2015 22:15

We were starting to think maybe a different region of France, but helensteph that site does look perfect! Bet its all booked up though... I'm off to look.

We went to ferme de latois - an RCN site in the Vendee. We did book a mobile home but we really enjoyed it. It's dutch run and the majority of visitors are dutch.
