My 8 day, 5 star holiday to Sri Lanka has been turned into 2 nights camping Devon.

To try and make the camping more luxurious, I have booked electric hookup (for the first time Grin)!!

For the last couple of years I've been looking to upgrade my cooking set up but don't feel we camp frequently enough to justify the cost. However, I now have a week's worth of spending money for me and ds which is screaming out to me to spend!!

Any camp cooking suggestions? I currently have (I think) a weber travel set but it's not very powerful and everything takes ages to cook/heat. I've also had a gas ring which packs into the case from go outdoors and that was also painfully slow at heating anything.

Any other camping accessories that I really could live without but might raise a bit of a smile?!

Fairy lights, bunting, windsocks on long poles. You won't have a huge amount of power so yes, the cooking will be slow if you use electricity. If your gas ring is slow it might be that you need a cooking stand with a decent wind break. The basic one from G Outdoors does a great job for us but is slightly rocky so we put the water carrier in the bottom shelf for stability.
If you have money left invest in a pair of really comformable chairs (if you will have room in the car).
Have a great time!.

we have a campingaz chef. which we used for the first time this year. It has two hobs and a grill (although you cant use the grill at the same time as the hobs) I really like it.

When we went camping a few weeks ago, there were people sat around a table with little tea light votives and wine which was nice.

I was thinking of gas cooking (this trip's electric hookup is likely to be a one off just to soften the blow of where we should have been next week Grin)

I have a new kitchen stand which I haven't used yet so maybe I should try the gas ring with that before I invest in something else. Maybe I could try it out in the garden first :))

Shiny - I was looking at those last year but was too tight to buy one full price but they do seem to be popular. Is the grill any good?
