Cloud farm, worried by reviews

Has anyone been to Cloud farm? It seems to have everything we are looking for, wild swimming, camp fires, and café on site, should we need some home comforts. Have read on the reviews that they cram tents in during high season and there are not enough toilets and showers to cope with the numbers of people.

Last time I went it was a sunny may bank holiday and I have never seen so many tents crammed into one area. However, Cloud farm is an amazing location and without the crowds remains one of my favourite campsites.
I would be willing to risk it, it will probably be busier at weekends, but if you get a good spot you willl be ok. The great thing about this area is that if you find it is too busy at Cloud farm there are a great many lovely alternatives - for instance Doone Valley Campsite is right next door and may be a degree less beautiful than Cloud Farm but still a very special spot, the first campsite I ever visited in Exmoor. There is also Leeford Farm, very basic but allows campfires and is also next to the river, though acess is more limited.
Actually I have already written about some of the alternatives here so have a quick read.

I haven't mentioned Poole Bridge near Porlock and Westermill Farm also excellent alternatives but not in the same valley as Cloud Farm.

All these campsites allow campfires and are on the river though may not be perfect for swimming.

We're going to Cloud Farm this weekend, so will let you know!

We're back after a lovely weekend at Cloud Farm! It was busy and most of the flat areas next to the stream were taken, but we still had a choice of several different places to pitch. I never had to queue for toilets or showers.
