Well next the Sea campsites?

We went camping in Wells last year and I loved it, we orginally went to camp at Pinewoods as they said they had lots of room but they don't let you book in advance for tents, we got there and they were full. Looking on Trip Advisor this is quite normal for them.

We eventually found a site with room, they have no website and I cannot remember the name of it but if we cannot find anything else we will risk going there but anyone know of any sites in the area?

When you Google there is a limited amount that come up, with a dog and toddler I don't fancy driving there for nothing.
Thanks in advance

Black rock sands

GalaxyInMyPants · 23/07/2014 21:10

Is black rock sands not the other side of the country?

I used to stay in a camper van in a little site near where the alpaca trekking is and where the steam train leaves from. Wouldn't really recommend it unless you were desperate. The main advantage was you could always just turn up. £6 a night. Toilet in a garden shed, no other facilities.

Other place I've been to is Kelling Heath but its a bit along the coast.

Any suggestions in that area even a bit out are appreciated, just know without a proper plan dh will want to camp in Skegness, I want quite peaceful not busy with arcades.

We had a brilliant stay at one called Mill Farm campsite - basic but spotless facilities, friendly laidback staff, lovely views and easy walk into the town.

Bit of a drive but love it here. www.deepdalefarm.co.uk/camping/

We always stay at manor farm in west runton
Been there about 8 times.

Have a look at High Sands Creek at Stiffkey, which is on the edge of the marsh, great location.

Or Breck Farm, further over at Kelling, which allows fires, but is closer to the Sheringham / West Runton end of the coast .

Can you remember anything else about the site you stayed at?

Wells is fantastic.

How ridiculous that Pinewoods do not take bookings - they are a huge operation, with their caravan park and beach huts and everything, plenty of capacity and infrastructure to run a bookings system.

Blu Thank you it was High Sands Creek, I was looking in Wells that is why site didn't come up, they were lovely last time and said a lot of their on the day bookings are from people being let down by Pinewoods.
I too was shocked that they don't let you prebook tents. Dh is keen to go back to Wells as I am not a seasoned camper (and normally moan) but here and a site in Forest of Dean were my two top sites I loved!

We stayed at Breck Farm at the weekend, it was great. As pp said, a bit further up the coast but short drive to Wells and we spent one day there. They had last minute availability when I booked last week.

There's a page here for High Sands... do they allow raised fires does anyone know?

ihatethecold · 24/07/2014 09:17

I know they used to.

CannulaNellie · 24/07/2014 13:59

Memphisbelly: sorry for the tiny hijack but which site did you love in the Forest of Dean? I'm looking for somewhere for me and the kids in August.

Memphisbelly · 24/07/2014 17:25

It was Bracelands, it is only given 3.5 stars but wecfound it to be really clean, spacious and near walks, tracks and the river.
Only fault we had was one night a couple got drunk and were scrapping/shouting, but the warden came and told them off!
