I NEED to go camping this weekend...

I need to get my fix of canvas action.

Ideally not more than a couple of hours out of London, perhaps near the sea or a river or something for swimming.
Somewhere i can have a fire.
Somewhere not too camping and caravan club like.
Any suggestions?
Is it too much to ask?

Barefoot camping, Oxfordshire. Haven't been but looks lush. Right on the river, campfires, general loveliness. And accessible from London. Good luck!

Badgells Wood doesn't have water, but fits the bill otherwise, and recently had availability when everywhere else groovy booked up.. Haven't been but comes highly recommended ('doesn't have all the annoying bits that spoil other campsites', apparently) I'll be able to report back personally after this weekend (whoop whoop!).

Stubcroft farm, east wittering is handy forthe beaches in the Witterings . West Wittering beach is lovely.
