How come nobody actually told me <pointed stare> what a Cobb actually was?!

Hmm I have heard tell of these wondrous items on this board but assumed it was simply a particularly expensive pan or something. Now I have used Dr Google and he has shown me that I cannot possibly live without one (indeed it is a wonder I have survived this long without one) There is a rather splendid video on the Lakeland site which I think may help sway DH but I think I should perhaps wait until I can get him drunk the weekend before broaching the subject :o

Ah but what accessories do you want?!

TheFantasticMrsFox · 08/07/2014 13:53

Accessories?
Do I need accessories? Clearly I would need a natty carry bag for it but what else should I aim for?
I showed DH the video earlier and he was very excited though perhaps not as much as me
All out of stock until the 14th July ATM though

I have the roasting rack and bag. I wouldn't worry about getting the book (although it usually come with it). I'm tempted by the extension ring though.

whatwouldaudreydo · 09/07/2014 22:58

Dammit....now I NEED a Cobb! First a bell tent, then an Icey Tek, now this. This site is not good for my credit card.
I loathe cooking on a BBQ which limits our camping menu somewhat....I think this may be just the thing!

TheFantasticMrsFox · 10/07/2014 06:59

Ha audrey :o
It's not an "ooh, I quite fancy one of those" is it?! In my case it's more desperately lustful than that :o

Nope it's definitely an 'I neeeeed it' said in the most whiney toddler voice ever! I think I'm just finding things that I can't go camping without just to delay the actual camping trip on my own with two kids Grin

whatwouldaudreydo · 10/07/2014 08:10

Also have just realised that if I get a Cobb than I will absolutely HAVE to get the 40l icey tek due to all the wondrous food needed to cook on said Cobb Grin From various threads I've read it seems to be a legal requirement to roast a chicken in one whilst camping Grin

onaroll · 10/07/2014 12:25

I hankered after one of these for a couple of years; obsessing about which accessories I needed or not.

Then it happened ; got the 'kitchen in a box' , so the wok, frypan, extension etc.

I love it , but now I want the bamboo cutting board too ;-D....

So far have managed with out the Icey tek - still 'struggling 'with the 3 way fridge.

But I would say it's not camping without the Cobb now :-)

Bimblepops · 10/07/2014 12:27

I haven't even got any camping plans at the moment, but now I want a Cobb too...

onaroll · 10/07/2014 12:30

Whatwouldaudreydo .....
Yup Roast chicken that's usually my first night dinner. Set the Cobb up with jacket spuds and a whole chicken.
Then start to put the tent up and kit it out - by the time you're finished dinner tends to be ready too. Happy days , just add wine. ;-)

onedogatoddlerandababy · 10/07/2014 12:32

Oh. I want one too. Hmmm. Perhaps I'll get DP one for his birthday.

Grin

He would love it though.

It's easy to spot a MNetter of a few years hanging out here:

We all have a perfectly pitched canvas tent (or outwell), a Cobb, an iceytek, feral children and a G&T in our hand.

It's the path of least resistance but yes, expensive!! Soooooo worth it though :D

onaroll · 13/07/2014 22:01

SeaShells
I'm almost with you there - no IceyTeck, always vodka never gin (unless it's pimms of course).
Kids- tick
Tents- tick ( okay 9 canvas ones)
Cobb - tick ( but also a cadac- controversial)

But I can also be found camping all year round - even in the white stuff.....

onaroll · 13/07/2014 22:15

I almost forgot as well as the bunting, I have to have my lilac canvas bucket with me ; waterproof, packs down tiny and has no end of uses at camp ( but never ever for a night time wee).

SeaShellsMyDogTrulySmells · 14/07/2014 07:43

My dh loves his Cobb - he just sits and cooks way too much food on it, as there is always time to hot smoke some fish at the end :D
