Weekend campsite near-ish to South East London

Our new Bell Tent just arrived - hurrah!!!

My kids have an inset day on Monday and husband and I have a day off. We are committed to some stuff on Sat but can go away either just Sunday night or Sat+Sun night. Haven't the energy to traipse a long way.

Which campsites do you recommend easily accessible from south east London? If they allow campfires, that's a major bonus, although we can probably manage without if need be. Pub with decent food within a mile or so would be great too...

We went to WoWo last weekend, it was brilliant.

Inwood, just off M3 near Basingstoke, couple of pubs nearby but not walking distance unless you don't mind a fair tramp. Campfires, amazing huge woodland campsite with lots of space. Camp in home field if you have an aversion to composting toilets.

Thank you everyone - just looking through all of those now :)

You might find a lot of the sites are full for Saturday night - there is an availability checker on UKCampsite that tells you which sites have availability.

You can also check by county and sue the campfire filter, and sites like pitchUp.Com have a campfire filter.

Abbostdnowne wood had places for this weekend last time I checked.

Sorry, Abbotstone Wood.

Ditchling Camp - and overspill of Kitts Cottage Camp
Chafford park
Palace Farm
Welsummer
Blackberry Wood
Merrylands

All allowing fires and in lovely parts of Kent of Sussex.
