A whole weekend of camping alone! Where can I go?

So, I have a whole 4 nights to go camping all by myself but I need help to decide where. I'm in Kent and I think Yorkshire is about as far as I want to go. Not Somerset, Devon or Dorset! I'd like a bit of wild swimming, a bit of cycling and a campfire and a lot of peace and quiet.

Any suggestions?!

Shell Island in North Wales is just lovely. There are lots of different areas to camp in, so u can choose the type of break you want . Be more wild and quiet (like we do) and camp in the dunes , or you can camp near the facilities (showers, shop etc). You can have a fire, there are stand pipes, toilet blocks etc. lovely beaches, huge sandy beach down one end (dunes) rock pools etc on other end nearer shop. They have a good website. Have a look!! I go with friends and kids and we love it! Plenty of room there. Great area in general to explore by bike...

Not been to this one but its on my list. Looks like it fits your criteria Smile

Agree with two, Shell Island is in a beautiful part of the world, we were near there last weekend.

A plan has slowly formed and will be going something like...
Drive about half way to Cornwall on Friday night and camp around Salisbury. Drive to Padstow early Saturday morning and start the Saints Way (inspiration from country walking!). Camp half way and finish Sunday evening / Monday morning. Bus back to Padstow, collect car, camp at Blisland Sunday / Monday night, cycling Monday / Tuesday drive home Tuesday evening.

That's a plan and a half! Anyone else?

Sounds good.

I'm off to the Peak District next week on my own for a weeks cycling followed by Tour de France watching. Can't wait. No dh, no DC, no dog. All bloody week!

I thought I was lucky with 4 days. Although I'm already planning how I can get away again... With no DC in the car longer journeys are a bit easier and I do have the excuse of needing to get used to the new bike properly! Where in the Peak District are you going?

Camping just outside of Bakewell.

Seems a good base for lots of the trails and general good cycling.
