As the title says.

The most important factors are:

Weight
That the opening is "sloping inwards" in case it rains, rather than at an angle from the ground. If that makes sense.

this is 3.5kg quite heavy - but the ultra light ones cost £££.

this is 2.3kg

Oh I like the look of the first, thanks. But I dont think it has mosquito net?

Oh, but look at THIS!

Do you reckon it will be hot inside a black tent?

That does look good!

I think a black tent would be v hot if it was left up all day and you were on it when the sun was up, but if you are trekking / hiking won't you be pitching it as the sun goes down and up and off before it gets really hot?

We will be trekking in the North of Norway, with midnight sun. I think we may bake! We need to buy two tents, one for us and one for the kids. They want to sleep separate in their own tents. (They are 12 and 9)

As we have to carry everything for 12-18 km per day, we need lightweight!

I've got a wild country zephyros 1. If you look at the wild country website they often have "seconds" going cheap. Mine cost me £70 and there's nothing wrong with it.

I'm also in the process of looking for a similar tent. Not bought yet but 2 websites I've found with fab lightweight kit are

www.backpackinglight.co.uk/shelters-1.html

www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/equipment-c3/tents-shelters-c25/all-tents-c148

I'd be really interested to hear back what you went for and how it worked for you as I'm unlikely to buy this year...

I covet this tent though - with the nest it weighs a mere 900g!

www.hikelight.com/six-moon-designs-2-person-haven-tarp.html

Just need to find the $350 and overcome the fact that they won't ship outside the USA!

This one is similar but I'm put off by it only being single skin... And the price. But it's only 1162g!

In reality this one at about 1900g is the current favourite in terms of balancing space, weight functionality and cost for me...

But I'm liking the look of the decathlon ones too

Yellow's one has a good mosquito mesh inner!

I appear to have just bought a backpacking tent... Been pondering for a while but seduced by the fact that today it's £30 less than the previous cheapest price on Amazon.... Which of course means it will be another £20 cheaper tomorrow but we'll gloss over that!

Very excited! Particularly with how small it is and the stargazing fly :)
