I'm trying to sort out a fun weekend away for family in June/early July - self, dh, 3dc aged 6-10 (as a reward for good behaviour whilst I'm marking GCSEs).
Ds suggested glamping at Warwick Castle.
Everyone in the family loves castles. Everyone except dh likes camping. Dh doesn't like anything involving tents (but does camp once a year to keep me & the dc happy). Glamping is a possible compromise.
However, dh's hatred of camping applies especially to crowded commercial sites; he will chunter if required to sleep cheek by jowl with lots of other families, retreat into the tent & go to sleep at 7pm.
I suspect, looking at trip advisor, that Warwick Castle glamping could be his worst nightmare, poor sod. (Although if anyone's been & loved it, I'm happy to be convinced!)
We camped on Piel Island last year - kids & I loved it, but it was all a bit windswept & basic for dh.
Can anyone suggest a combo of an interesting castle/historical site & somewhere with glamping? We're in Yorkshire, so anywhere from Midlands to Scotland is do-able...
