Loads of lovely places in the New Forest - take your bikes and you can have many happy hours pootling along forest trails

Exmoor - my favourite place in the UK. Try Cloud Farm (but not in high season), Westermill Farm, Poole Bridge, Caffyns Farm, Millslade or Doone Valley Campsite. All campfire camspites. Go to the pretty twin towns of Lynton and Lynmouth, explore the bizarre landscape of the valley of the rocks, seek out the beautiful beach at Lee Bay (make sure you go ay Low tide to discover the hidden bit). Beautiful wooded valleys with rushing crystal clear rivers and mossy rocks (Watersmeet or the Doone Valley walk) and the contrast of the wild moor. Can you tell I love it? Grin

I thought the OP was asking for recommendations outside of the South-West. Rural Northamptonshire is lovely, as is Shropshire. For something completely different try Northumberland (near Lindisfarne). Not sure about specific campsites though.

Wales is lovely. Area I know best is the Llyn peninsulaSmile
