Want to get a Cobb BBQ but have a question

Hi,
We're off camping in a couple of weeks for the first time without borrowing cooking gear, so I need to get us kitted out. I am pretty sold on the idea of a Cobb BBQ, but am thinking I'll need something else too as you can't boil water on a Cobb? I was going to get a Kelly Kettle but realised that this wouldn't help for things like boiling eggs or pasta etc. I was hoping to avoid getting a gas stove (mostly due to a weird irrational fear/dislike of gas canisters) but now I'm wondering if I wouldn't be better to just get a little one for those purposes. Any of you Cobb lovers out there have any advice? TIA

I love our trangia! It uses methylated spirit instead of gas and boils water really quickly.

You could boil water on the Cobb but it would take ages and probably work out quite expensive if all you want is a cup of tea. We use one of those single burner gas stoves that works with the small gas cannisters you buy in packs of three.

You could get a trangia burner (just the burner bit not the rest) and stick it inside the Cobb.

Or one of these fab stoveswww.backpackinglight.co.uk/cookers-and-stoves/RB105.html

Or do a homemade version of that last one with an empty tuna tin with holes punched round the rim.

Loads of options!
