Need to buy a new camping chair and not sure what to get. Questions, are the more expensive ones worth it, are the high back ones any good, are cheap ones just as good? Any reccomendations please?? Needs to fold well for car packing and ideally have one of those holes in the arm to hold a decent wine glass Grin

We have cheap £10 approx each umbrella folding ones which are fine but be warned...wine glasses with stems don't sit well in them but just put wine in tumblers and you're fine! We also have Outwell loungers which are heavenly for a wee snooze in the sunshine and have a tray at the side to put your stemmed wine glass in! They were a lot more though...DH being very coy on price....obviously doesn't want to admit to how much he spent that day!!
I'd say go high backed if only buying one multi purpose chair!

The very cheap umberella fold chairs sag very quickly, and the stitching comes undone and the arms sink down. Once they sag deeply in the seat they are v uncomfortable to sit in. So while the style of chair works well it is worth going for a sturdy well built model. Not 2 for £12 at a motorway service station!

We have some sturdier umbrella fold chairs and they are great. I also have this style which are very handy for your drink, Kindle and crisps (mine have a side pocket on the other side from the table) but harder to pack in the car.

After much research with similar requirements to yourself, I decided on the following:
Coleman Sling

I got around the v important wine glass factor with this genius invention. A bargain considering you get 2 in the box:
wine holder

Was just about to reply with a Coleman sling recommendation. We got 2 last year and they are so so comfy, even after 2 weeks camping. I use one of the benches from our picnic table as a wee table for my wine (I also use short tumblers - less chance of spills!)

Ooohh thanks. Two recommendations for the same chair. Decision made then, thank you! Will get ordered. Smile

An update for anyone who is remotely interested. For several reasons (namely had big discount from local camping shop who didn't stock above chair), I have bought a kampa skipper. Utterly in love with it Grin
