Right so we may be putting our tents away for the year....

But please post where you been, when, and would you recommend for next year.

We've spent a grand total of 21 nights under canvas this year

Homlsley New forest July, was a fab weekend great site, fab wardens, deffo reccomend

Steepleleaze, Corfe, Dorset August, fab site limited fascilities but campfires allowed, very laid back and cheap

Bude Holiday park, Bude, Cornwall. August. OKay if you don't want much room and like the holiday park atmosphere, great fascilities, pool, bar etc but very noisey.

Pinewoods, Wells next the sea, Norfolk. Bank holiday weekend. Camped in the overflow, loads of space, quiet at night, nice fascilities but without being tackey! Easy access to town and beach without car!

Anyway over to you guys tell us all about it, we are that sad we actually want to hear!!

over 4 weeks under canvas this year, a personal best!

week at the forsetry comission site at Bedgelert...excellent but take lots of insect repellant as the midges are fierce!

Dolbryn campsite near Newcastle emlyn in Soth Wales. A first rate family run site that everone should visit. Owners are kindness itself, fantastic playgrount, has a bar but very low key and quiet. very big piches.

Camping Jabline outside eurodisney. Not nice, horrible loos and showers will not be going back. It was nice and close to Disney and the RER train to Paris though.

Domaine de la foret. First rate site in the Vendee....I have written and extensive review on Ukcampsite. I would recoment this site to any mnetter

Deepdalecamping in norfolk. Nice site but not enough loos for the august bank holiday rush. Pitches quite small, very nice cafe.

Just got back from a weekend on friends'farm in Kent. The DHs, all tree surgeons did some tree jobs around the farm. Mums looked after the hog roast, kids ran free and had a BRILLIANT time. Not one single arguement. We did proper camp fire stuff. I learnt to play the didgereedoo and really got into some african drumming (courtesy of the hippy guy that works with dh). It was a perfect weekend. Kids in bed and I'm off for a bath, I stink and have campers hair.
Grange Farm on IoW at start of holidays was excellent too, although we were their first week of holidays before the IoW was invaded and campsite was still quiet.

We've had several trips this year, the ones we will definitely return to are:

The caravan and camping club, Cardigan Bay- absolutely lovely

Hollands Wood, new forest

broadway house camp site in Cheddar Somerset (has a website to book on)

Planning on returning to a these next year, and I have chosen Beddgelert for my birthday weekend.

Won't be going back to Nodes Point for a few years as we have 'done' it a few times in the last few years, but will miss the fabulous location.

Also going to Pentewan next year with my family and also Mum, dad and one of my two sisters and their family (they won't go with each other, not sure why- BILs not getting on possibly, polar opposites)- may be first come first gne with, tho I ahve a definite preference I won't vocalise LOL!

And we are desperate to return to wood farm in Charmouth soon, they ahve a website too- nicest toilets anywhere yet. LOL! Indoor pool, play area but no pubs / clubs- ideal

Just got back from a weeks camping at Watergate Bay near Newquay Cornwall, was fab bit windy on the hill at night but the views and location made up for it. Dd's had a brilliant time and me and Dh came back sunburned

We have had our first camping trip to Great Langdale and despite being wet and veen stormy it was fabulous and inspired us to buy a new tent ( we had borrowed one for our first tester trip) and take a trip next weekend.

Quad...i've always fancied that Pinewoods (and have a soft spot for Norfolk) ...what were the pitches like?...how much....can you book...etc etc please!

Hi - Have done really badly compared to some of you!, only done 6 nights camping. Mind you, didn't actually have a tent until nearly the end of July!!.

We went to Burnbake at Rempstone - lovely site, set in woodland, reasonably priced, good shop, cleanish toilets and nice showers.

Stayed at Osmington Mills Corner campsite this weekend - it was horrible. There were 6 showers for the whole site, which was overcrowded. No hot water in the toilets, 2 sinks and 1 drainer for washing up with no hot water. If the 3 mens showers were being used no water would come out in the ladies showers. The site was really hilly so tricky to find a flat pitch. Sorry for the rant. We did still have a good weekend and the weather was better than expected.

Camped one night at Kingston Maurward College near Dorchester back in July as we went to a concert there. It was a lovely site but don't know if they have camping there normally or just when they have concerts.

Only 6 nights for us too and both places I would LOVE to go back to.

2 nights at Bracelands - great campsite, will definitely go to any other Forestry Commission one on the basis of that stay as the facilities were so good.

4 nights at Aberafon, nr Caernarfon, North Wales. Stunning location, absolutely stunning. Was gutted to come home.

Would like another weekend away somewhere before packing away for the winter, but not sure if we'll get a chance to now - don't think I'd like to camp much beyond the middle of September, too much of a wuss.

We've only been to two this year - St David's Park in Anglesey I would recommend because of the setting (right on the beach at Red Wharf Bay) but it's a big site and I prefer smaller ones. DH bought me a copy of "Cool Camping" for my birthday yesterday - is it supposed to be funny?

We've only done a week, this year (only started camping again last year)

Went to Henllys Campsite in Towyn, North Wales because of recommendations on UKCampsite. Hmmmmmm....... we had a nice time despite the weather, but can't imagine we'll use the site again. Very urban, and most campers were using it as a cheap hotel iyswim. In the evenings the toilets were crammed full of women crimping, preening, straightning and using enough hairspray to destroy the ozone layer in one go No club on site but loads within walking (staggering) distance, and the next door campsites club was definitely within earshot. Noisy, but not so bad you couldn't ignore it, but then we had an electric pitch so were up with the caravans, tent field was quite loud from what I could make out. Campers were nice though.

Next year we hope to do a week in the summer half term, and then do a couple of long weekends during the summer holidays (keeping an eye on MN recommendations)

We've managed 28 days so far but still have 2 more weekends planned!

just got back from pennymoor in devon which was lovely a little bit too far from beach so any reccomendatiosn for a south devon campsite close to beach would be appreciated! Really didn't want to come home

back of beyond adulst only campsite was lovely just dh and I and lovely clean loos

1 week at cub camp less said about that the better!

A great campsite in kidlington can't remeberthe name but had a great may bank holidty weekend there

and finally 4 nights in the isle of wight at easter, cold but great fun

Not ready to pack tent away yet!

Have done 11 so far at Hedley Wood in Devon. Hoping to go for a couple more nights, just OH and myself before the end of September, then reluctantly the tents will go away til next yr.

Only one week camping - Applewood Campsite at Banham Zoo in Norfolk, two weeks in a caravan at Caolasnacon Caravan Park in Scotland.

Both highly recommended.

Went to Woodyhyde campsite, had a great time but... the facilities are awful IMHO. But lovely relaxed campsite.

Kids and Dh went to Hollands Wood, new forest, recommended. (Is anyone aware that the government is planning to sell off the Forestry Commission campsite etc to a private contractor)

So, this mumsnet campsite - can we ban women plucking their eyebrows in the bathrooms? That's not proper camping, is it? Touch of moisturiser, maybe. Anything else out of bounds?

It amazed me when I was camping the number of women all trying to reach the mirror with their hair straighteners, curling tongs etc in a full face of make up. Now I am quite a high maintenance woman but isn't the point of camping that you let all the vanity go and relax?

I love camping and not having to use a hairdryer or faff about looking as glamorous as I usually do . I like wearing my boots and my combats, wrapping myself in DS's Batman blanket in the evenings and feeling all outdoorsy! What is this eyebrow plucking nonsense?

I wanted to go for one last weekend this weekend but DH is a bit under the weather so looks like I am going to admit defeat and pack it all away in the garage today instead.
