I've just read this article in the Sunday Times and it sounds idyllic. It addresses two of my main problems with camping (being able to go to the loo without tramping across a field and sleeping in comfort).

the solution to all those bladder problems

I packed a bucket with a lid - but dh filled it with coal or something for the barbecue!! Fool that he is.

The second to last night it rained for 10 hours non stop; dh and I woke up at 6am both bursting for a wee so we drove round to the toilets!

Agree that the toilet thing is the worst aspect of camping - especially as i had a very heavy period that arrived a few days early Such is life, but I lived to tell the tale

We took ds2 and ds3 here this year. It was quite a special place, compost toilet but the bathroom was very luxurious.

DS1 came to visit for a day, shut the door of the yurt, and sat in the middle of it, still. Which was amazing frankly.

Surfermum - I am ROFPMSL at your overflow situation.
The size of that bucket on MB's link should suffice surely???? lol!

thanks mercy!

It was good, very peaceful. Cheapish as well..... (not compared to camping with own kit, but compared to almost anything else).

We only had one problem all week.

There are actually 2 yurts on the same site that share the batrhroom yurt and toilet yurtlet. They're set quite a long way from each other so we hardly saw the other occupants (romantic couple). One morning dh came back from the toilet yurtlet wanting to know if I had done the big poo. I wasn't guilty so we decided it must have been the romantic couple.

On the last day I bumped into the female component of the romantic couple by the tap. We had a "isn;t it lovely and peaceful" conversation. As she left ds2 said in a really loud voice "Mummy do you think that lady did the big poo" oh the shame!
